Thread: NFL Time

The Cards O-Line was letting Kolb get abused for the first 4 games. He was bound to get hurt. They need an some serious help in the O-Line or they need a scrambling quarterback with the will to live.

I picked the Pats. As much as I hate them, they always light it up at the end of the season and they were at home. I thought it was a no brainer.

Cardinal fans are always very optimistic for the next season by week 8 of the current season.

If Kolb gets back this week or next, and plays as well as he did the first 4 or 5 weeks of the season before the injury, I think its enough for Wisenhunt to retain his job and for Kolb to be the starter. But echoing what most others are saying- get some O-Lineman and a better backup (this will probably make a lot of you guys cringe, but I get the feeling a guy like Matt Cassel might come kinda cheap in the off-season).

And what do you do with that oft-injured, under-achieving RB core? Stephens-Howling looks like he could be a poor-man's Sproles, but he's too tiny to be an every-down between the tackles back. Do you guys think Beanie is good enough on the rare occasion that he's healthy? Ryan Williams is hurt more than Darren McFadden. The draft pool looks weak at that spot. Not sure who might be a free agent? Maybe one of the overpaid Carolina backs?

I think it's interesting that you say Ponder sucks, and you accuse Kolb of playing well and potentially being the reason why Whisenhunt keeps his job, when they basically had the same effect on their teams this season (when both were healthy).

You can't be serious... Ponder has single-handedly lost multiple games for the Vikings this year. The Cardinals nose-dive happened once Kolb went out.

As a Vikings fan I'm cheering for Ponder. He doesn't seem like a dbag. But the dude thus far has really struggled. Even when he had a high completion % early on it was dinkin and dunkin.

I am serious. Ponder was actually playing very well at the beginning of the season, and had more of an impact on the Vikings winning than Kolb did on the Cardinals winning. It's what I noticed by watching, and what is confirmed by looking at ESPN's QBR metric which takes into account situations and plays that are made that go toward winning games. Ponder has a 40.9 QBR and Kolb has a 38.0 QBR. Kolb essentially had 2 games in which he was pretty instrumental in the team's success. That's in 6 starts. Neither are very good, but it's funny to act like Kolb was the glue that held the Cardinals together. I guess, though, Kolb is Joe Montana compared to John Skelton.

The Washington game, the first Bears game, the Seattle, the Packer game. Those are 4 instances where the majority of the reason for the loss was Ponder. And he seriously did have a high completion % early on. But it was all on bubble screens. Dinking and dunking.

The unfortunate thing for the Vikings- their alternatives are about the calibur of Skelton and Lindley. Joe Webb can make things happen with his feet but he can't make a throw to save his life

You can call it dinking and dunking, but I saw him make good decisions, reads and accurate throws when they needed them. He's been atrocious for the last couple of months, though.

Which O-Line has blocked for the leagues leading rusher?

Now which QB sucks even with a O-Line like that?

If you watch any single Vikings game, you will see Ponder can't throw accurately beyond 15 yards... that's a given.. move beyond that point.

Vikings only have a winning record because at times the special teams has stepped up & the running attack & Defensive side have been good all year.

Another 3 players - you know who you are - have been eliminated because of indifference.

Any suggestions for prize/award for top finisher(s)?

If the winner goes to weekend one, I'll buy him a beer.

Unless they choke on one of those two cupcakes.

I love the Chiefs in week 17 playing all loosey-goosey.

Shit, the Cardinals looked good today.

God fucking damn it. I didn't pick anyone in the Raiders/Cheifs game.

On the positive side that was a HUGE win for my Niners. I'm pretty sure I lost 5 years of my life because of the last half of that game.

    Better late than never....

The winning line from Week 15:

Shaxspear 12 12 Cin NYG GB Was StL Mia NO Den Hou Det Car Sea Dal - SF Ten 37

Shax, you pulled it off despite forgetting to pick the Raider game.

Can someone please step up and make a run at the Cincinnati guy?

You know he's picking the Bungles today and that should be at least one shot to pick up a game.

A wicked Merry Christmas to all
