according to Mike&Mike on ESPN radio this morning, the Redskins and Cowboys were warned on multiple occasions by the NFL Executive Committee that front-ending deals in the uncapped year would be viewed as circumventing the cap in future years and that there would likely be consequences. The deals were approved because they fit the rules for that year, but the warnings were in place. Apparently (again, all I know is what I heard on the radio this morning) Snyder and Jones figured that all they'd get was a slap on the wrist and went forward and structured the deals the way they did despite the warnings.
Miami what did you DO
He signed a pretty gigantic contract when he was traded to Miami so the Bears had to agree to absorb that under their cap which is half the battle. It may seem like the Bears made out like crooks on this one but in the end I'm sure Miami just wanted to be rid of him and his $$$. Apparently towards the end of the season he was advising them to either get a QB or send him packing, so uh, they sent his ass packing.
The Dolphins just conceded that they are in full rebuild mode. Unless they sign Vincent Jackson to replace Marshall I can't see any other way to interpret this move.
They should trade Reggie Bush and sign Joseph Addai. Really sweeten the pot.
Pierre Garcon to the Redskins, I believe. I'm looking for a source. Just saw it on another message board.
Garcon to the Redskins.
Tampa seems to be making a push for V. Jackson
Bears are apparently working to sign Jason Campbell to backup Cutler. I'll take it. Big upgrade from Hanie and McCown.
Hawks have to have the edge now that the Dolphins shipped Marshall out of town, right?SI.com's Don Banks reports the Seahawks and Dolphins will battle for free agent QB Matt Flynn.
Hopefully that balances out any advantage the Dolphins have. Honestly I don't even know if I should be excited if the Hawks get Flynn. The guy has two starts and there's a good chance he's already played his best NFL game.
Michael Bush is visiting Arizona according to his Twitter.
Last night at dinner my brother and I were talking about Peyton and where he might go and my mom butted in and said "Peyton Manning...is that Eli Manning's brother?"
I couldn't help but laugh, odd sign of the times, that's for sure.
