Wow, Man U is about to play Zenit St. Petersburg on Fox Soccer Channel in the UEFA Super Cup. And the lineup has all of Man U's stars on the pitch!

This wasn't on my radar at all but a nice suprise on a lazy friday afternoon.

On a side note; I love how these dumb-shit Zenit owners tried to use Ashavin as a cash-cow but got too greedy with the asking price so no deal was struck. Ashavin's stock won't get higher than it was after the Euros... dumb, greedy russians. If they don't lower the price in the next few days they risk losing even more if his form slips before the next transfer window.

The Newcastle forward Guiterez reminds me of Robert Pires. He isn't very graceful but extreemly confident on the ball, always attacking the defense keeping them on their heels. He looks like a good one for you.

Thought this was interesting so it was hauled in here, friendly waters and all:

IMO
Keeper: Buffon (Castillas is a REALLY close second)
Defense: Alves, Materazzi, Terry, Sergio Ramos (terry will allow ramos to get forward)
Mid: Ronanldo, Kaka, Fabs, Gerrard (although gerrard is kinda getting wasted as a holding mid and I'm not sure if Fabs can play on the wing)
Forwards: Torres, Messi (but you couldn't go wrong with Drogs, Zlatan, Van Nist, or Villa)

I'll probably change this many times in the near future, especially the midfield.

On a more serious note, any team would have to have Senna in. He dominated Euro 2008.

What a terrible display from my boys. Arsenal was in the Magpie half all day. It was evident that Milner was missed in the midfield. Some VERY questionable calls that went Arsenal's way, but it wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome. Difference was definitely in the midfield. Newcastle could not sustain any attack. The defense was a sitting duck.

Everton...yikes. Still early, but they made Pompey look world class.

Great to see Cesc back, his influence on the team is immense.....hopefully Van Persie isn't out for the season already after the ankle injury. I cringe every time he's involved in a tackle.

it's exciting because its the 'beautiful' game. So much skill, controlling the ball with your feet is difficult plus the game flows really fast. Basketball is ok, but it's so end to end there's no tension. Baseball is alright, but again. The older I get the more I could see myself liking baseball in the same way I like cricket. I don't know if Americans know this, but the rule is if you go to a live cricket match, you don't watch the match, you just play drinking games. Going to watch cricket is basically a big piss up, fall asleep and someone has won/lost.

American Football I don't really get - bit like rugby except, again, you keep stopping and starting, too many advertisements, shoulders pads and helmets. It's a bit too much.

Hockey is alright, hoever you can hardly see the puck. It's hard to know what the hell is going on.

The thing with soccer/football is, it's the tribal mentality. It's the singing, the lighting flares, the rucks with other supporters, the insulting chants. Soccer has everything. Plus people literally worship football over the world. If you go Argentina and say soccer is crap, they'll arrest you.

The main thing is, Americans want to sit down and watch their sport whereas in soccer everyone wants to stand up and scream. I've heard that American don't actually love their sports that they have as well, they just love betting and the whole hot dogs and live game experience and the wedding proposals at half time and shit like that. I don't think they actually love the sports.

Sorry if that's unclear but that's the only way I can describe it.
