Defense was garbage. LVP of the tournament goes to Geoff Cameron.

    Tim Howard, holy shit.

It was nice to the USA come alive - just sucks that it took nearly 2 hours for them to do so.

The US dont have a good finisher. Dempsey shouldnt be up front, he is an attacking midfielder. Wondo cant perform on a world class stage and neither can Altidore. They need a world class finisher.

If only there was a US player who can finish and has lots of WC experience who could have come on for that final 20 minutes.

Just finished the game. Wondo had it and then blew it. Major props to Howard though, without him who knows what the score would have been. There was just no consistent push until the extra time and that was when were desperate and bringing everyone up.

I will say I don't like the decision to not play Beckerman. He was been sold all tournament and then just not play him for Cameroon who has been crap. Oh well all things considered I am happy with what we did. Advanced out of the group of death with the most travel time. I am excited for the future of USA soccer with these young guys.

Despite the happiness I've felt in advancing out of the group and being a horribly-shanked shot away from a WC quarter final, I'll always wonder "What if...?" in terms of Landon not being selected.

I don't think Landon would have done much besides play the only pussy style American Soccer he know how. Not to say it so disparagingly. The positive thing is we have young guys like Zusi, Yedlin, Green etc. learning from a real football coach at the highest level of competition.

I agree with that British butthole upstairs about Dempsy being a midfielder and needing a world class striker up front. I don't know where you find that striker. Also, Tim Howard will be 39 by next World Cup and I really don't know how you find a replacement for him.

    Zusi is 27...

I didn't expect or want Landon to start all four games - my point is that he would have been a better impact sub when the pressure is on and we're looking for a goal than someone like Wondolowski because Landon has "been there and done that" at this level. Opportunities like the one Wondo missed are due as much to composure than technical quality, and given Landon's track record for the National team I'd always back him to take that chance. He didn't become the all-time US goalscorer by chance.

As for the "Dempsey is a midfielder/need for world class striker," Dempsey was the 2nd best finisher in the squad and as such was the natural replacement for Jozy up top. Hopefully Johannsson and Green continues to develop, and that the overhaul US Soccer made to youth development three or so years ago begin to take shape.

And if there is one position in US Soccer you never need to worry about in terms of players coming through, it's in goal - Guzan will carry on that tradition once Howard retires.

I'm rooting for Belgium now. GO BELGIUM.

Did you see how they had American flags on their jerseys. Very classy. They looked like they were having fun too. Unlike the German team who reminds me of the Hawks from the Mighty Ducks movie. Holland reminds me of the Turnbull AC's.

I think Zusi had a terrible WC. Other than his corner to Brooks...I saw nothing that impressed me. He didn't do well at holding the ball up on the flanks, and very little to any positive runs with, or without the ball. Him and Bradley were my two biggest disappointments. Zusi's position at RW is where I could have seen some differences if LD were on the squad.

Michael Bradley to me was the biggest disappointment for the US team. He had trouble making passes and right decisions in all WC games. I think the only good pass he made the whole tournament was that lob to Green for the goal.

That Wondolowski miss was called offside anyways even though it obviously wasn't so the miss didn't matter anyways.

Bradley was running in the wrong direction half the time.

I watched this move The Damned United last night. It was about this the ex coach of Derby and Leeds. Apparently Leeds used to play a violent game. There was a lot of real footage in the film. It was more of a history lesson than a movie.

I saw a documentary on British Airways once about Johan Kruyf's World Cup team and how they got drunk and had an orgy and lost because of their hangover. Am I remembering this right?

There is never going to be a world class American striker up front. Donovan, Dempsey, and McBride are the closet we will get. Well I shouldn't say never but for at least another 50 years minimum. The problem is all of our best athletes go into sports other then soccer. As far as Howard's replacement goes Guzan will do just fine as I already think he is a better keep the Howard, well before yesterdays game at least. However goalies do tend to play longer so don't rule out Howard yet. Hell Brad Friedel is 43 and still playing in the EPL.

The only thing Zusi did well was covering the shoulder of Yedlin defensively when he was in. Otherwise yeah not a great WC. I am honestly surprised Davis didn't get more playing time at all. Bradley, well nothing really needs to be said about him.

The Linesman called him offside but the Ref never blew the whistle. If he did score it stands to reason that the ref could have very easily over turned the offside call.

50 years Unit! Minimum? We're fucked.

And yeah our athletes play American sports. if you play soccer in high school you'll never get layed so everyone plays football. Our team looked sexully frustrated at best.
