This is a cool promo.
Anyone watching the WC playoff 2nd legs? The last 10 min of France-Ukraine will be very interesting...
The second half of Sweden-Portugal was great. The goal celebrations of both Zlatan and Ronaldo were quite terrific as well.
I'm glad we'll have France in the World Cup, as should be the rest of the world (except for the Ukraine, obviously).
A nice overview of the teams qualified for the 2014 World Cup (colors on the left represent the different confederations):
we've been kicking ass
so is there only one earthquakes fan on this board?
It's right. I think FIFA re-jigged the way the rankings are calculated to place more weight on recent results rather than past performances, which is why teams like Columbia and Belgium are in the Top 10. The US actually had a really, really good year in terms of overall results (the Gold Cup especially, despite the less than stellar competition) and I think that's why they're so high up there.
The 13th ranking makes sense with the shift in how it's calculated. I know the US has been "kicking ass," they've literally never had a better year, but that's a 20 place jump in 10 months when they didn't have many truly huge wins. Beating mexico at the Azteca lost a lot of its lure when everybody else did it too, and squeezing out a win against Germany's B team hardly puts the US up there with the best in the world . The drubbing against Belgium showed that. I'm just hoping they make it out of the group stage next summer. Anything beyond that is a huge bonus.
For those in SoCal, the Men's National Team will be playing a friendly against Korea Republic on 2/1/2014 at the StubHub Center; tickets on sale Friday at 10 AM PST: http://www.ussoccer.com/news/mens-na...-republic.aspx
Doesn't look to be too expensive to be honest; the only thing to keep in mind is that these early-year friendlies are normally "B" and "C" teams made up of domestic league players (it's not an "official" FIFA date, so clubs aren't required to release their players if the federation calls them up). I went to one a few years ago against Denmark and it was almost all MLS players, but with the World Cup coming it might be different this time around.

It really was an incredible performance - hats off to him.
Wow. That might be the best game by a single player this season. Easily in contention for goals of the season with the one from like 35/40 yards out. Glad he was my captain on my fantasy team...
Yeah, that goal was a great build up. amazing control and balance. You play premier league fantasy? if so i beleive he had 48 point. 4 goals and an assist.. wont see this again.
