I didn't think it was possible, but England somehow became even more one-dimensional once Carroll came on. The plan became "Let's huck a bunch of long balls at him so he can flick it on for Rooney," and the Italians took the very novel approach of not even challenging Carroll in the air but rather used their numerical advantage in defense to instantly win the ball back.

Portugal to win today. That is all. Yes, I am aware I incorrectly chose England to win on Sunday, but ehhh.

anyone know if Charlie Brown's Steakhouse in El Monte has TVs? Lunch meeting up there. May have to DVR it. Pullin for Mr. Sexy of Portugal. Been playing as Man U in PS3 FIFA 2009 and the Ronaldo/Rooney combo is death threatening.

If you're talking about the one off the 60 across the town center, they have a bar section with TVs. Free food also during Happy hour.
You know, but that's valid because if we are all gonna die anyway shouldn't we be enjoying ourselves now? You know, I'd like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, as some minor insignificant preamble to something else.

I'm going with Spain to win. I haven't been calling them at that well either. So something has to give here...

wow, yeah dude, that's the one. Not sure if it's appropriate to tell two guys I've never met in person before "let's sit in the bar to watch soccer" on our first lunch meeting. But I am giving them a large cash referral for a deal, so maybe I should be dictating it.

Thank for the info. Gotta go (driving up from HB to meet at their office then head to Charlie's). Ciao.

Can someone please post the Ramos and Ronaldo pile up in slow motion?

Very disappointing match. Spain refuses to push forward with any intent, and Portugal haven't taken advantage with the few chances they have created. I smell PK's, unfortunately.

Last 15 minutes have been better for Spain than the rest of the match.

No PK from Ronaldo?? That makes no sense...

Not an impressive showing from Spain. They play that way against Germany (assuming they get through Italy, which I think they will), they lose.

That's a big mental error for the entire Portuguese staff - it seems like they were saving him for the end, but, as we've just seen, there is no guarantee that it will go to the fifth shooter. Shocking.

Was worth 90 minutes of boredom (I enjoyed extra time) to see the face on Ronaldo at the end.

Have to give the Italians credit. They put Germany on their heels from the outset. I don't think Zee Germans expected Italy to push forward and have the high press on.

Still, Germany created plenty of chances. Should have put some in.

Italy looked great today, and they will certainly be a difficult opponent for Spain on Sunday. I think the Spain v Italy group game has been the best match of the entire tournament, so I'm happy to see these two teams meet in the final.
