I know you all hate the MLS, but hey...I'm from Seattle and I love my home teams. This goal was fucking awesome last night.

Who said they hated the MLS? I had a chance to work with a few of the teams, and am a huge proponent of the league.

Also, those who AREN'T up on the MLS...you need to watch the Portland/Seattle match on Sunday. One of the best atmospheres and rivalries anywhere in soccer.

I suppose I shouldn't have jumped the gun on calling everyone out on hating it. I just know it isn't discussed much here, and I typically get a negative response from people who are fans of the sport, but not that league. You are right though, Sunday is going to be absolute mayhem. I won't be traveling to that match, but Portland will be up here later in the summer and we go down there one more time this season and I definitely plan on attending that one.

I'm actually going to my first MLS game in 9 days, SJ vs. LA @ Stanford. Got seats by the corner flag, hopefully I get to heckle Beckham.

Ronaldo. I got to admit...that guy is fucking good looking, dude.

I've been thinking about taking in my first MLS game as well, but they are so shitty compared to the world stage. The in-precise passing, the 3/4 full crowds. It's like you're paying for a third tier class of football. Rather save up for something else...like a match at Old Trafford. The World Cup is in Rio in two years.

Sounds like MLS isn't for you. I like to support my local team however good or bad they are. Luckily, LA Galaxy are my local team here in socal. Back in England, it was Bristol Rovers, who I still follow.

The Sounders average about 39,000 per match. 46,932 were in attendance yesterday. Not bad for a weeknight match...

Nice piece of bait and switch for Real Madrid vs Juventus in Las Vegas on Aug 5th.

Juve had to cancel due to schedule problems and Club Santos are the replacement opponents for Real. The promoters are saying 'no refunds' because teams and players are subject to change. Personally that is bullcrap and if you push for a refund I think you'll get it.

Had channel 506 (I know the co-Galaxy Commentator Mark from school in San Diego) on watching the sunlit basked Salt Lake City match the other day, but turned it off at halftime to do other things. It was a bit frustrating viewing all the missed passes and opportunities. Guess play did get better in the second half.

I imagine most of the MLS fans have moved here from other countries and/or have a deep family heritage in soccer. Hell, I played organized till fourteen and hit it recreationally on occasion, but still not really bothered with the local team's intricacies. The sport is just way behind on the general tiered list of importance for Americans. Not trying to be Debbie Downer. My bad. Still a great game at it's heart.

This would be crazy: "US, Mexico to renew rivalry Aug. 15 in Mexico City"

Come on, Greece! I know it's the longest of long shots. Damn, Germany looks dominant so far. They're just passing it around at will like Greece isn't even on the field.

Man, France blows. Spain v Portugal should be a pretty fantastic game, and will definitely be Spain's toughest test of the tournament so far.

France were pretty awful in the first half, but I felt they played much better in the second; I wonder how much their locker-room shouting match after the Sweden game influenced Blanc's team selection.

As for tomorrow's game, I think Italy will really miss Chiellini in the back - he's been their best defender.

The whole shouting match bit i think is France's biggest problem. They lose one game and fall apart.

England should win tomorrow. From what I've seen I fully expect a Germany/Portugal rematch in the Finals to decide the winner this go around.

Portugal/Spain should be a good match. I can't see Italy getting past Germany. But then again I haven't exactly been calling them right thus far. Very disappointed in England today.

The look on Pirlo's face after that pk was so cold-blooded. Great game for him.
