The Danish win was a bit of a shock, and Portugal was so close.

Right now, I have no idea who I want to win between Spain and Italy.

The Spanish team is much better looking this year. I think I have picked a side. I got my red jersey on.

What a fantastic game Spain v Italy was; so much talent on display for both teams.

without having a favorite I watched the Italia/Espana draw this morning. Missed Opportunities 101. Some amazing pinpoint passing though...damn, those guys are good.

If anyone has a stream other than ESPN 3 let me know. I can't access that on my work computer, cell phone or kindle fire while i'm at work. I'll be listening on Sirius/XM.

    Update:
I think I found a workaround. I turned my Droid into a hotspot and now ESPN3 is working on my kindle fire. I did this earlier but espn3 was demanding I logged into to an internet provider and my provider wasn't an option. Not sure why that popup went away but i'm happily watching now.

Ukraine and Sweden game was great. Loved the crowd and the Shevchenko header.

The second half was great. The first 20 minutes was fucking epic. I'm happy Ukraine won, but I like my Swedes.

England only had one shot (from a set piece) on goal while France had 15. I don't think they're going to make it out of group stages.

England v France was a bore. I also don't think the English are as doomed as you think, Phenomena; they could wind up like Greece in 2004 and make it all the way to the finals based on being tough to break down defensively. Their counter-attacking will also be much better once Rooney gets back into the team (although he'll probably be a bit short of match fitness/sharpness).

I agree with this. You can see the discipline they have with Hodgson in charge. Damn, it is boring though...like to see more of a push forward, and taking a few chances here and there. But, you are right; the strength of the team is in the back and in the holding mids. They do have some speed at the wings they can use for counters.

France did miss some chances, but I felt they were too willing to take shots from distance. I know the English D was tough to break down, but they rushed a few shots, IMO.

England had only one Striker in yesterday's game vs. France in Welbeck, and hasn't he just mostly been a setup man for Rooney in league play? I guess the injuries have left England thin in terms of true attacking forwards, but I don't know how much of this will change once Rooney is back. Like someone said, he may be a little behind in terms of soccer fitness level due to the ban.

Also, how did James Milner ever get to start that game? He doesn't even start for his club team!

You're right that most of France's chances came from outside of the box and that they did begin to rush things as the match wore on (notice how deep Benzema was dropping to get the ball in the second half?), but you have to give credit to England for effectively clogging up the passing lanes in the attacking third and, as you mentioned, being disciplined defensively. France didn't really seem to have a Plan B, and Blanc seemed hesitant to bring on the attacking options he had on the bench, so maybe he was satisfied with a draw thinking they can get better results against Sweden and Ukraine.

Usually when Welbeck play's for United it's as the main striker with Rooney playing just behind him in the hole, so I imagine that is what will happen once he gets back from suspension. That will free Young to move out to the wing, something which should give the team a bit more thrust and creativity going forward. I think Milner was in there yesterday due to his work ethic and willingness to track back defensively, but you can see how limited he is going forward when he blew that great chance in the first half - I'm sure Young or even Walcott would have taken advantage of that opportunity. I was also surprised to see the Ox get the start ahead of Walcott - I wonder which of the two will start in England's next game.

Such a joke. The host countries have the TV rights, and that is what Guatemala decided to do. Heathens.

Portugual already up 2-0 on Denmark.

I am hoping to see a Dutch victory today against Zee Germans. Need those 3 points!

All three goals have been quite beautiful. This may be my favorite match of the tournament so far.

As much as it pains me to say this, the Dutch played like garbage today - the defense was essentially non-existent, and most of the team looked defeated as soon the game kicked off. I know mathematically they still have a chance to get through to the next round, but I seriously doubt it will happen. There's also rumblings (from the Dutch FA I believe) that van Marwijk will be sacked if the team doesn't make it out of the group.

He should be sacked. His lineups/substitutions make no sense at all. It's clear that overall he has lost the team. Very unfortunate with so much talent.

that would be a coup. Moyes is a great Manager. I'm sure he would love a chance to manage a club that actually has money to spend. He's been one of the best at managing with success with very limited talent.
