Gerrard isn't someone I would want to pick a fight with. And he must have an entourage with him as well, not smart. Wonder who got the worst of the fisticuffs? But clubbing the city whose football team you just thrashed might rub some people the wrong way.

I hadn't mentioned it because I wanted to hear more concrete details about it...so much of the football news we hear is so rumor/tabloid oriented that it's difficult to know the real story sometimes

not what Liverpool needs at the moment, especially after such a dominating win over Newcastle....maybe poor choice for area to celebrate in!

Southport is actually part of Liverpool.

2010 tickets on sale in a few weeks. All systems are go so far for a trip to S. Africa. We are looking at 2-3 games during the initial on sale. Hopefully semi final or finals tickets further down the stretch.

all the Arsenal talk seems to revolve around the midfield due to the injuries to that part of the squad, but personally, i feel that something needs to be done about the defense as well.....

I love Sagna and Toure (I wish we would get to see him on a much more consistent basis, health permitting) ....Gallas is immensely talented, but seems to lack focus, because he makes some colossal mistakes at times

Clichey confounds me the most, because he is absolutely top notch at times, and is fast as hell, but makes some of the worst goal line and penalty box decisions and mistakes that I have ever seen from a top flight defender

Djourou is young and has potential, but seems confused at times and does not inspire confidence yet

something about Silvestre really bothers me every time I see his name in the lineup...the Gallas/Silvestre partnership worries me

Well, Arsenal has now been hit by injuries to Gallas and Silvestre...so I guess I don't have to be worried about seeing them together on the pitch...

do they maybe need a new stretching regimen? different warmups? why is someone pulling or straining something every week

I don't think so. With all the injuries to the midfield, I imagine Arsene wants to get some healthy mids.

unfortunately, I think it was a little short sighted on Wenger's part to let Hleb, Flamini and Gilberto leave at the same time without a plan to replace them.

They picked up Nasri, who will eventually be very good....but to let 3 such prominent midfield figures leave and not expect some sort of dropoff when you're not really replacing them isn't realistic

Wenger is really high on guys like Ramsey and Wilshere, but Ramsey just turned 18 a week ago, and Wilshere just turned 17 a few days ago, so obviously you're not going to count on them for anything in the very near future

Apparently Denilson is Wenger's favorite player, because numerous times this season, Denilson has been having the worst game of anyone on the field, and he never subs him out

obviously you can't expect all the injuries they've had, but I do feel there was an overestimation of a few of the young midfielders potential for this season which has now lead to them being terribly undermanned

That's fantastic. Have you been before?

I have some exciting footy news too (for me, at least), but don't want to jinx it. Will reveal when things are "official".

totally agree about the flamini part, nasri is every bit as talented as hleb just in different ways. where hleb was great at holding the ball up and keeping the pendulum passing going nasri has a bit more of a killer instinct. more like rosicky. unfortunately cesc seems to need another passer in the team plus a defensive anchor to perform at his best. denilson is supposed to be both, i mean he's decent but i do agree that he should not be starting on arsenal athis age. maybe in like 5 years.

on ramsey and wilshire (and dont forget vela just because the english media does), fantastic players but yeah like you said too young to count on. they'll all be damn good in their prime though if they keep improving

    What an idiot.

One can only assume that he was looking at himself in the rearview mirror, or re-applying his spray on tan at the time of the crash.

I didn't forget Vela, I love his talent and can't wait to see him get some more playing time, I was just focusing more on the midfield because I think that's where we need the most help...I got to see him score for Mexico against Guatemala back in '07...that was fun, I went to the LA Coliseum with several Mexican friends, and the atmosphere was intense

Flamini is the one I was most concerned about leaving, Hleb is extremely talented, but I think Nasri can definitely replace him, and will eventually be more of a scoring threat than Hleb ever was

Denilson shows flashes at times, but in my opinion he's not ready to be a first team player. I'm not down on him, he's just young too

arsenal is signing Areshavin. Wait until they complete it and Van Persie and Fabregas are fit. That's something to fear.

wouldnt that be the most hilarious way for him to end his career (not that i want him to, as much of a douche as he is he's still very talented and the game is better with him in it) but still. for cristiano ronaldo to die in a fiery ferrari car crash. oh man

Chelsea looked terrible in that game. Some credit goes to Utd's defense of course, but Chelsea barely strung together two decent passes in a row for most of the game, and they hardly existed in the second half

Ji-Sung and Giggs' great performances dominated the midfield and never allowed Chelsea to get into the game.
