Mexico put up a helluva fight. Just couldn't keep Robben from eventually having an impact.

That was one of the worst calls of the tournament so far.

Marquez and the entire Mexican team must know that's what's coming and not let it happen. Did Robben sell it? Yup. Dive? Maybe. Who cares. Mexico defended poorly there and it was a penalty.

There was contact in the box; Robben certainly made the most of it, but Marquez just has to be smarter there - you cannot dangle a leg out like that when defending in the box because almost any contact you make will go against you. Makes up for the no-call in the first half, though.

Netherlands probably should not have won that game but I'm certainly not complaining!

Ochoa had some pretty crazy awesome saves.

Since the Netherlands had possession for the majority of the 2nd half, balls were bound to find the back of the net for the Dutch.

Mexico just went in to a defensive shell and gave up way to many corners for a team that isn't good against set plays. As for the PK yeah Robben did sell it but Marquez needs to know better then that.

Great game, especially the 2nd half. I was rooting for Nederlands, but I have to say, it's pretty hard not to cheer for a team being lead by this guy:

Big goal there Greece. Nice job to stay in it.

Costa Rica must be wishing they didn't waste so much time. If Greece get through, fuck me. They will be easier team for Holland, but Costa Rica hasn't looked sharp either.

And the better team won out through the penalty kicks, which as we know, isn't always the case. However, it's a shame one of the two underdogs had to eliminate the other.

the sad part about this game, besides the two teams playing, is that one of them would have to go on to play Holland next. Greece looked awful and Costa Rica looked less than extraordinary. Compared to their group stage play, Costa Rica looked awful. Holland won't be as sloppy as Greece, that is for damn sure.

can someone explain to me what the Greece goalie was doing on the CR goal early in the second half? I mean the guy seemed to just watch it roll by without trying.

He hesitated, that's all. He might not have been expecting the player to shoot it, or if he was expecting a shot he may have been expecting it in the other direction, or he may not have had a clear view of the ball at all and by the time you do it's too late. Despite it's slower speed it's a magnificent shot - most one-timed hits like that don't stay so low to the ground; they're rather struck with alot of power and usually get some height. I could see it throwing someone off. Maybe the GK initially read it as a pass the player on the right and when the defenders didn't step in it was too late.

Or he may have been immobilized by his confusion as to why the defender just stood there and let it go by too.

Or, the money guy in Singapore may have had some action on this.

I feel you man. I mean, I was rooting for Holland, but after the game my neigbirhood was so quiet I felt so sad. I went to the park to kick the ball around and no one was there. Muy saddo amigo.
