Yeah, the BIG SURPRISE team. Most common WC viewers wont see them coming. Even my friends i talk to who play and watch the EPL, La Liga, etc. still question me on this. The team is solid.

Brazil does have something like 55 straight game winning streak of games played in Brazil. Well they did at least during the Confederation Cup (it could be higher now or they could have lost I really have no idea). While other teams are still threats to them I just don't see how Brazil doesn't win. Talk about the ultimate home field advantage though.

By them playing very high quality teams consecutively. Do you know who won the Confederations cup before Brazil? and who that team beat?

Well I know Brazil has won the last few of them including the game against the USA where the scored 3 second half goals to win. I want to say off the top of my head that France was the last country before them, but I don't remember who they played against.

Either way the point wasn't about the Confederations Cup but just about how great Brazil is at home. Yeah maybe the quality of competition hasn't been the highest but that is still an insane amount of games to win in a row at home.

A European team has never won the WC when the tournament was not hosted in a European country.

Belgium is a trendy darkhorse, but I don't see them getting as far as some people tend to think. Yes, they have a talented squad, many of whom have had good seasons for their clubs, but as a team they are very inexperienced at international level and I think they'll exit during the first knockout phase. Euro 2016 is a better bet for them to make an impact at.

    Brazil v Chile
    Spain v Croatia
    Colombia v England

Okay, once. Still, I don't see a European team doing it again this year.

I like Lucky Baldwins in Pasadena to watch footy and get drunk. Great hearty breakfasts and hard cider and great atmosphere to watch games. I saw a bunch of games of the past Euro there and it was incredibly fun.

Sounds like fun. I'ma hit up a few Local Pubs during the world cup to get a better experience of watching the games. I'ma definitely keep Lucky Baldwins in mind just for the fact that pasadena is awesome in general. If you guys are ever down, let a brotha know!

I'll be at The Harp or Tustin Brewing Company, but I would totally be willing to travel.

Germany or Brazil to win it. I understand none of the beligum players have experience, but they are one of the tightest groups around, they have every element a team needs, I really think they can make a run.

Where is that? I love The Harp, but it's a pain to drive all the way to the beach during the summer and TBC is fine, but the true soccer fans in there are sparse. I'd love to find a local place where I can be with the real fans.

The Olde Ship is on 17th near Bristol.

My dark horse is Chile. They got a tough road, but I think they'll pull through after some exciting matches.

I see Uruguay topping their group, with the winner of the England v Italy game as runner up. Really don't see both England and Italy getting through.

I can see Portugal getting furthest out of the European teams.

We should start a predictions contest, I can keep a tally of entries and see who gets the most points. I'll start another thread for this.

Both bold predictions! The Uruguay squad is still quite similar to the 2010 one, meaning they'll have a strong spirit and be difficult to break down, but I think a combination of not having Suarez for the group games and Cavani being in somewhat indifferent form will really hurt their chances of progressing - where else are the goals going to come from?

And why do you feel Portugal will make the deepest run of the European teams? Genuinely interested.

I think Uruguay will advance at least to the Quarter Finals but I see it hard for them to go further.

On Europeans, I think Germany and Spain have a chance of getting to the final but France is playing very well... They have a very young team that seems to want to show what they're capable of.
