After a few listens, I am still enjoying Oceania more than anything since Adore. I also recommend finding the Howard Stern interview from a couple of weeks ago. It's fantastic.

This album definitely makes up for Zwan and the awkward crumble of the Pumpkins following Adore. Bands of the 90s that fell into mediocrity in the early 2000s rarely make it back up the hill and thats if they even survived the 90s. His interviews seem very angry, interested to see a performance of them live, despite their trainwrecks over the last few years.
This looks like a photo from a directory of local sex offenders.

So I saw the Pumpkins Thursday night in Austin. Show was very good and they played just under three hours. The new album sounded pretty good live. As for how they translated live, in my opinion, My Love Is Winter was the best sounding of the new songs. The second half of the show was mainly hits (Zero, Ava Adore, BUllet With Butterfly Wings, Cherub Rock, Tonight, Tonight, etc). They played a cover of Space Oddity which was interesting. The real star of the show was the encore which was amazing. They brought out Jimmy Flemion from The Frogs and he played Jeepster and Thirty-Three with the band. They also brought back Gossamer which might be my favorite live song of theirs. During Gossamer they transitioned into a new song called Black Sunshine. Song fit in pretty well with Gossamer. Real heavy sounding. I hope they keep it for future shows. This was the highlight of the evening for me. Finally they closed with Mayonaise which was the perfect way to end the night. All in all it was a fantastic night. Highly recommended to see them on this tour if you have the chance. We didn't get the full production though since it was just a warm up show but I hear the same people that designed Roger Waters Wall stage helped design it so I would imagine that it's probably really good.

With the caption "What's your favorite song being performed on the OCEANIA TOUR?" makes it sounds like the setlist will not be changing.
There have been a few variations with 33 and Mayonaise being played but I would say that is roughly what to expect.
Floor tickets for detroit still available.
How full was the austin show?

String of Canadian shows this week in the big arenas. Vancouver cancelled, scheduled a week from now.
The Austin show was at a tiny venue...most of the rest of the tour is it at big arenas. Doesn't seem like any of them have sold that great so far. Either way glad to hear people have enjoyed the shows so far.

The 2008 show I saw was so bad it would really take a lot to convince myself to give "The Smashing Pumpkins" another chance live. I am legitimately afraid of killing of my residual goodwill and nostalgia for what this music meant to me.
They are a totally different band now. The show I saw in 2011 at the Wiltern was light years better than any of the SP shows I saw in 07-08.
Didn't Billy hire some 20 year old drummer? Is he still playing with him?
Anyway this might interest some of you...
This sounds pretty cool though....
Release date: 12/3
the Mellon Collie reissue will be available as five-disc CD and DVD box set, a four-LP vinyl box set, a double-CD edition and a deluxe download. The deluxe CD box includes 64 bonus tracks of either unreleased or alternate material from the album's era. There's also video footage of a live show filmed at London's Brixton Academy in 1996.
The deluxe box also includes reimagined cover art, a velvet-lined disc holder, and two books of expanded liner notes. There's also a Decoupage kit to create your own scenes from the album art.
Even if you don't spring for the biggest package, the product description explains that all of the tracks "have been painstakingly remastered for the first time from the original master tapes by Bob Ludwig."
ps For those in Vancouver...
"Goldenvoice regrets to announce that the Smashing Pumpkins' upcoming Vancouver show at Rogers Arena on October 7, has been cancelled and is sorry for any inconvenience caused to the fans. Refunds can be made at point of purchase immediately."
