They're good, but they're reaching a level of popularity that's pretty alarming...
But they're playing Detour for sure, right?
Eh, I think alarming was just poor word choice...
More like "WTF I hope this doesn't mean they start making shitty music because of how popular they've become".
oh ok. Alarming was a bit you know?
Ok so your name has Pxies in it so obviously you like good music so what the fucking hell are you all about Gogol and Wilco for?!?!?
Of all the amazingly great bands out there who resemble the greatness of the Pixies, WTF are you saying that "Wilco is the only jam band I like" and "Gogol whoa!" for?
Gogol, and Wilco kick ass. So you are talking nonsense right now.
The Pixies in comparison? Adventure, excitement, a Jedi seeks not these things. You have much to learn Padawan, much to learn you do.
Hey man, it's all like one story, or at least that's just like you're opinion man, but give me another caucasion, cause I'm still calm, at least clamer that you.
Sorry, I can't wait to see Burn After Reading
Gogol fans: Check out The Pied Piper Of Hutzovina. It's a documentary about Eugene. Quite enjoyable.
*yawns* overrated

I got it, it is very great. I liked it becasuse at some points it made Eugene Hutz seem like a total asshole, and at other points and genuinely nice and craing guy.
Also, I suggest everyone here watches the movie "Wristcutters: A Love Story." One of the main characters is Eastern European man with a moustche and his characters name is Eugene. He is also in a band... the bands music who they use for the fil is Gogol Bordello. I watched the special features after and it turns out Eugene Hutz is good friends with the director for the movie and he gave the director permission to use him as the inspiration for this charcter. As well as to use Gogol's music in the film. Also Tom Waits is in this movie. As well as Will Arnett. Its a good'un.
And Shusov... damn you! I thought this thread was going to be about a full Gogol Bordello North American, or at least West Coast, tour.
RAGE there is no doubt that it will be coming.
I love love love them in concert. I really enjoyed their sets at Vegoose and Bonnaroo. But when have they ever been accused of making great music?
they make amazing music.
music that doesn't stick 100% to british/american convention in terms of the rules of post-classical composition to gain popularity.
it's not just energetic and danceable- it's CREATIVE. and they don't get so bogged down in technicality that they forget how to sound like they're having fun.
you can hear if a band is having fun or not.
it makes a big difference.
i guess the real issue is then... does having people think your music is fun make it great?
the answer would be... sure... in the way Daft Punk is great, but not in the way Radiohead is great.
