True. I guess they do figure since you're female that you want a glass. I prefer a glass most of the times especially when I'm dealin with higher end beer because it allows the whole breadth of the beer to be noticed and lets it live. If it's a cheep lager or pilsner, I can do the bottle.

I think I'll have a Tsingtao with Chinese today for lunch hmm lol.

I love when the glass is chilled so much that when they pour the beer in it you get little ice crystals in your beer. OK now I am thirsty.

Has anyone done the Anchor Steam brewery tour in SF? My roommate and I are planning on going this summer. I hear they give you a free sample -- a whole pint!

I've been wanting to do the tour, fiyahhh!, but everytime I try to there are mitigating factors that prevent me from attending it. Usually it's the lack of timing on my part--so let me know how it goes.

Actually someday I want to own my own bar. live local music, different seasonal beers on tap and of course pool tables and poker tournaments. But the one bad thing about working at a bar, who wants to be the only sober person around a bunch of drunks.

At least once a year, we use to go to the now closed Black Forrest in Santa Monica. Very traditional German food. They had a patio outside that was covered with trees. The wife drove home on these trips, which meant that I was able to indulge on a hefeweizen or two. I remember eating potato pancakes with dollups of ice cold sour cream and a dollup of cavier on top. Then eating a whole pork leg shank with gravy and mashed potatoes with fresh bread and and butter. There was nothing better than eating all of that food and drinking a ice cold glass of hefeweizen.

So many memories when it comes to thinking about drinking beer. This is one of them.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

LOL this is true, unless of course your working behind the bar but then that is why you own a bar I guess so you don't have to work it. I was talking to the owner of a bar once who was drinking and shooting pool with me. I told her that I was interested in owning a bar someday and she said that she loved what she does but it unfortunatly meant she had to be a professional alcoholic. Not sure if that is an upside or downside.

The one drawback (or requirement) to owning a bar is that you have to look really beaten down. I mean, world-destroy-my-youth-whoa-begone looking and that's something I couldn't deal with. Also, puffing on Marlboro Red 100s is not the way I want to conduct things. Okay, so those are mostly the dive bars around here like The Red Room..etc..etc...

I have a Fat Tire at home that's like, 6 months old. Is it still drinkable?

    beer in the glass:

I go beer tasting every so often and ive been told when pouring a beer in to a glass, you wanna get some head on it. not too much, just enough, because it brings out more flavors of the beer. so, beer in the glass technically is better.

Well you don't go gettin' shitfaced, but sober? Nuh-uh... I called it the pre-shift toleration shot. Made the assholes easier to put up with!

You gotta love dive bars though. Nothing beats going on vacation somewhere and looking for a sign that just says "COCKTAILS", they usually end up being the best bars ever.

I quit smoking 10 years ago so I won't be able to do the marlboro red thing, and I am often told I look 25 even though I am 35 so I can't do the beaten down world destroyed my youth whoa begone look either. Hmmm I may have to rethink what I want to be when I grow up.

Fat Tire use to be one of my favorite beers but now that I have tried others I occasionally go back to the old school fat tire and it just doesn't taste the same as it use to. Kiltlifter is better, and for some reason I really enjoy Michalob Amber Bock.

Someone told me that fat tire puts live yeast or something in there so it's terrible once it warms up I've actually ran into this problem at the bar once bartender gave me one and it was just shit so I asked him to grab one out of another case and that one was fine idk

The upside is knowing when to stop, the downside is otherwise known as the floor.

I'd go to your bar Brokendoll. Although it is in the Indio area, I would have to make sure to stop by sometime. If I were to ever own my own dive bar here in L.B. I would hook-up all the chella posters and make sure they're all taken care of.

No rush, I'm off for the summer. It's a private country club I work at during the season. But I began my internship at Niel's Lounge in Indio...Coach peeps might have stopped in there. The Local Dive, no doubt! Good Times!
