Default The Smiths - Coachella 2009

I'm not a big fan of them. But, those that are will be happy to know that they will be delivered to Coachella Polo Grounds for the festivals 10 yr anniversary. Of course nothing is set in stone by a longshot, but 11 months from now when they are confirmed, remember where you heard it first. I give this a 75% chance of happening at this point from what information I've been hearing.

i'm so fucking sick of people on here talking about the smiths!!

    a) they fucking suck
    b) they fucking hate each other and wont ever play together

so all you goths that want to relive your sad, depressed youth, please just go slit your wrists instead. it will be almost the same thing as seeing the smiths.
Let's go on a livin' spree!

agreed. turning down 5 mill speaks a lot, and morrissey tours and performs a shitload of smiths songs already, their set wouldnt be so outrageously good

True. The dollar amount will be significantly raised. But, of course ultimately its up to them. That being said I would rather have 2-3 great mid/high level acts for the same price. I find the Smiths super boring and if they played, I would find myself in the Sahara actually having fun as opposed to getting really depressed.

Dude morrisey has already said that he won't do it. They hate each other. Really Really hate each other. The drummer sued Morrisey.

    The Smiths = instant sellout

    Will never happen, though.

Bowie I think will make the place sellout too, and it's quite possible too

so whats the most popular of the wish list now?

    PULP PULP PULP PULP PULP

More essential than a Smiths reunion because:
    a) there's actually a chance of this happening
    2) Moz plays Smiths songs, Jarvis doesn't play Pulp songs
    d) Moz actually tours, Jarvis doesn't

Seeing Morrisey this summer so I could care less if he or the smiths play next year. Bowie would be cool though.

*sigh* They, being the non-Morrissey members of the band, don't hate each other. Marr's performecd with Rourke, Joyce might still be bitter towards Rourke for dropping his part of the lawsuit, but Joyce seems to contribute to all the damn Smiths interviews/movies/etc. (like the Smiths Mojo magazine issue a few months ago). Also Marr publically stated that he'd consider getting back with Moz and co.

    It's all on Morrissey.

He doesn't even hate Marr for leaving him anymore. He probably is still spiteful of Joyce, but I think he's on a non-hate level with Rourke.

The thing is, before his solo career took off, Morrissey really thought he couldn't have a career without the likes of Marr. Then he found out that people would STILL buy his records, with or without Marr and co., so, basically, Morrissey doesn't see a real reason to get back with the other guys.

I mean, he basically spelled it out by saying that they hadn't worked for anything since the split of the Smiths.

No matter what amount of money you toss at Moz, he's going to need an artistic/aesthetic reason to get back together with the other guys.
    Upcoming Shows:
    * The Flaming Lips perform The Soft Bulletin - Bimbo's 365 in SF on February 21st
    * Jeff Mangum - Fox Theater in Oakland on April 10th

Five Years of Coachella Glory: 2007 - 2011 (skipping 2012, maybe I'll be back in '13?)
