what assumptions did you have about the overall coachella experience that were proven wrong when you got there?

in 2004, i had assumed that our friends would be able to buy my saturday ticket and just leave it on the tire of their car or something till i got there and could pick it up. they told me that wasn't a good idea and had me meet them at the gate instead. it wasn't until i saw the size of the parking lot that i realized how impossible that would have been.

i also assumed the bravery would be worth watching in either 2005 or 2006... boy was i wrong!

I assumed the tickets would print out the morning I drove down with kingsblend... Fuck ticketmaster (but thank god for my friend Matt).

Assuming I'd wake up around 7 or 8 and be packed before 10... not wake up at 10 and leave around 11:30. Yeah...

Assuming that not everyone would know who Amy Winehouse was (in 2007). Should have gone to the Gobi earlier. Much earlier.

(2007 again) Assuming Air would only be 15 minutes late. Then 20. Then only 30. Then feeling like crying.

I mistakenly assumed the festival site would be larger. I was pleased to find it wasn't a terribly long walk between stages, and just as pleased to learn as long as I was actually in front of a stage the sound didn't bleed in from elsewhere.

-that i would be able to sit at the main stage and relax at the end of the day and be able to see. yeah, i didn't take into consideration just how many people would be at the event and they can walk all over the place and even step on you.

-that the weather wouldn't be too hot. (i was a tad miserable with the heat but my love of music kept me going)

-that it was going to be in the middle of nowhere miles away from civilization. (i was soooooo thrilled when i saw it wasn't).

I dont think Ive ever had an assumption about it...have always moved with the current at coachella and have yet to be let down.

'06 was my first year. I really don't camp any other time of the year, so when I campoed at Coachella, I was fearing a lot of things. The dirtiness of it all, not being able to sleep, being anti-social, etc etc etc... Now I genuinely look forward to camping as much as the fest itself.

I assumed that this year the tent would be as big as it was in '06... I was touiting it to a few friends that hadn't attended before. It seemed endless in '06 (why I started a thread about it), but this year it filled for a lot of acts and seemed smaller.
