Simple. Best act as a whole.Take everything into consideration.
And yes, I forgot Underworld; Shame on me.
a tought call between chemical brothers and daft for me. but in the end i just love that pyramid too much. plus i like how they spread their art out into film as well. i dunno. im sure people will disagree and hate but i think they are amazing
i would say maybe the chemical brothers off hand. just because they cover such a large period of time and have remained fairly popular. they were also able to get heard on the radio back when a lot of electronic music wasn't out there. and they put on a great live show![]()
fuck 15 years...
looking to purchase:big brother skateboarding magazine back issues. travis bean tb1000s electric guitars.
Nobody better vote for Justice.
I'm a fan of both, but why the fuck is Justice up there and Underworld NOT?
As for my vote... I'd almost say Aphex Twin, but I can't choose between RDJ, the Chem Bros, Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim.
A lot of people should realize that it wasn't just the Chem Bros but Fatboy Slim who helped popularize electronic music way back when.
FATBOY SLIM was the one who popularized electronic music for me!
Stereo MC's
I voted The Prodigy because
1) They have managed to successfully change their sound with every album - something hard to do, and to do it right takes skill
2) They helped break EDM into the USA in the late 90s
3) Nothing beats yelling "SMACK MY BITCH UP" with thousands of other lunatics at one of their live shows.
good poll, except for the fact that Justice is included.
.
it's funny, the prodigy never crosses my mind though when i think "electronic music artist". they're awesome and put on a very energized show in 2005, but for some reason they don't really shout "electronic music" to me. they seem more like an electronic punk band. a lot of artists were marketed more as a band back when alternative was king which might explain why i feel that way, but it's strange that i can't see them as an electronic act.
and i didn't see the "smack my bitch up" video until way after all the hubbub and i was still impressed. they are definitely awesome
as for fatboy slim, i can't see him as THE greatest either. i've never heard anyone tell me how a fatboy slim show changed their life.
Whoa, was Coachella Norman's last U.S. performance as Fatboy Slim...?

god, that article makes me kinda annoyed with him. i hate people who change their established name for no good reason. your name is a brand. you cannot buy name recognition. and your name shouldn't reflect the type of music you play. artists are expected to grow and change. "meet the beatles" sure doesn't sound like the "white album", but it's still the beatles!!! besides, people are going to go "who, oh, you mean fatboy slim" anyways so why bother!!! jesus, in a genre that has a lot of trouble being profitable, why on earth would you want to destroy your name recognition?!?!
Um, yeah, it's Underworld, this shouldn't even have been a poll. Fucking fail and a half, motherfucker.
Going back a little further wasn't The Shamen really one of the early drivers of popularizing dance music?

Seriously where the fuck is
UNDERWORLD??????
The Glitter Freeze
Coachella 99-10 Vet, the run has ended in 2011
meh, prince changed his name to protest his label or whatever and i'm sure people still wanted to hear that "party like it's 1999 song".
i think it's pretentious on the part of famous artists. showbusiness is a BUSINESS and should be treated as such. you can't erase your past, and unless your prince, you're going to have a hell of a time trying to get your name recognized as well as the first name.
i see the point, but i don't see why a name change is necessary. yeah, it must be extremely annoying for your fans to only want to hear the 1 or 2 songs that were famous 10 years ago; however that's what you sign up for when you're famous. don't like it, don't tour.
there's a reason the stones have been touring for decades, but still play that "satisfaction" song, it's what people are willing to PAY to hear them play. mccartney is still singing hey jude for the same reason. he may not be a part of the beatles, but he will ALWAYS be known for that song, with or without the beatles. when the majority of people go to one of their shows, they are EXPECTING this music. and i feel it will be the same for fatboy whatever-he-wants-to-call-himself slim.
if he wants to produce new music and people don't want to hear it, i doubt changing his name will make a difference. i know that was long-winded, but it bugs me![]()
