Just got back from Seattle. Lovely town. Shopped around a lot. Pike Place Market was fun. Chihuly Glass museum good visit if your the touristy type.

Had some good eats too. This place was frickin great

Bit pricey but the Chef's sashimi special and asking for him to make it "adventurous" really was terrific. Plus, Kenny G sat behind us.

KENNY FUGGIN G!!! Aww hell yea!!!

Visited Seattle for the first time over Thanksgiving. Really great city. Had a wonderful time (and the weather was amazingly cooperative --- no rain!). Things I learned:

Small, easy to negotiate by bus or on foot. Largest concentration of hipsters ever (like a thousand little hipster college towns multiplied to the nth degree). Everyone and I mean EVERYONE has the cutest damn dog ever, of all sorts/shapes/sizes. Is this a law or something??? I've never seen anything like it. I just kept ooohing and ahhhing over everyone's dog, and I don't even like dogs that much anymore. Also, terrible TERRIBLE drivers. Holy fuck.

Visited Mt. Rainier. Ferried out to Orcas Island. So much pretty pretty everywhere.

I know it's really early, but anyone know of good shows on the weekend in late January, early/mid February?

I'd just scope Decibel's calendar and Pollstar.

John Talabot is playing Q Club on February 11.

Yea, I've been doing that and not finding much yet. And yes, I'm aware of the Talabot show but can't swing that many days off work yet.

Not in Seattle but we're considering going to Portland the weekend of 1/25 for Prefuse 73, Nosaj Thing, and FaltyDL. You are more than welcome to tag along/meet us there.

I can't read "Robag" without snickering to myself.

His last name is Wruhme, which I pronounce "VROOM!"

Since his name is made up, I'm assuming he doesn't mind it being snicker worthy.

Any other suggestions for NYE in Seattle? Trying to stay away from Seattle Center, typical clubs, and the Above & Beyond / Knife Party thing.
PDW, you probably already have things sorted by now, but I thought I'd pass on this link for half price Black Angels tickets, just in case.

Ha I kind of hate Star Anna a lot. But I won't hold it against you. I'm spending my winter break in North Carolina, so my NYE will likely consist of me doing very little other than falling asleep early

So when I'm in Seattle during Decibel, I want to stop by Urban Family Brewing Company. Does anyone have any restaurants they'd recommend in the Ballard area, where it's located?

For the best sandwich of your entire life, check out Paseo. They have a location on the Ballard waterfront and one in Fremont. Get the Caribbean Roast. You won't regret it.

I love tapas and I love sandwiches. I am totally willing to put Paseo up to the Post-Rave-Pulled-Pork Sandwich test. Slows in Detroit currently holds the honors.

Sunni and I just went to a place across the street from Ocho (La Isla) that supposedly had great cuban pork sandwiches, and they were not good. The mojitos on the other hand....
