Coachella 2008 "I'm sad I missed....."

So, I had a blast at the festival. The best music experience of my life. I'm happy with most of the acts I saw, but I certainly was sad for missing quite a few acts due to many reasons:

#1 I'm sad I missed Modeselektor and SMD for Roger Waters. I did enjoy RW, but these where 2 of the acts I was dying to see.

#2 Missing 1/2 set from Gogol Bordello for DIOYY?. Thankfully, DIOYY? kicked ass.

#3 Missing The Raconteurs. Was @ Goldfrapp.

#4 Missing Grand Ole Party. I don't know how their set was, but I just decided to get late to the polo field on Sunday.

The best choice I made in the weekend would have to be getting out of MGMT ( I love their music, but after the second song I wasn't feeling it) to go see Boys Noize, who killed it!!!!

1. Rilo Kiley. Did a marathon on the mainstage from Death Cab to Prince so I couldn't leave. Had a blast but still... was bummed I didn't get to see Rilo Kiley.

2. Sasha & John Digweed. Same as above.

3. Most of Roger Waters. I left early to catch Chromeo and Simian Mobile Disco. Thought Chromeo was kinda weak but SMD killed it but it sounds like I would've had a better time just sticking with Roger Waters... DOH!

4. Does It Offend You, Yeah? Once again did a marathon from Shout Out Louds to Roger Waters so I had to miss them but heard they were a blast. Oh well, maybe I'll see them at Lolla.

Even with all these bands I missed, I still would've stuck with the choices I made, all except for Roger Waters.

St. Vincent... Was at Cafe Tacuba for their whole set, no regrets though, I met her briefly afterwards.

Sharon Jones.. left early on Friday.

The National.. I don't even know why I missed them.. oh well..

Black Mountain - I couldn't force myself to bolt from DSOTM but in hindsight, I know I would've had a better time in the Mojave that Sunday night.

hmmm i too bounced from MGMT (a damn good spot too I was there from the Bird and the Bee on) about 1 min into the first song, his voice was horrid and cut through my ears but people said it got better......

walked over to boys noize heard &down and then ate some food and rested before checking out stephen malkmus

6. Cut Copy. Their set looked like it was 4x better than Black Kids.

anyway, i'm so sad i missed...

-black mountain. dumbest, most easily avoided conflict scheduling of the entire festival... (same could be said for Murs, as well)

-missing the 2nd half of aphex twin, to watch swell season (not regretably though)... i've got the vid & the mp3, so i'm happy i've gotten to hear it, and i WAS on the rail for the 1st half (and didn't have enough drugs to really enjoy the drillnbass, and if i had the drugs would've really ruined swell season haha)... besides, it enabled me to also catch the best part of aesop rock and the end of the raconteurs, so it all worked out...

-missed the last part of portishead to see flogging molly, left after sour times ...

-missed austintv, vas defrans, grand ole party, the bird and the bee, midnight juggernauts, and american bang (who i heard was a good opener) because it was too damn early, among other problems...

-missed all of jack johnson, wait, that was a good thing

-missed alot of fatboy slim to see black lips, and still missed hearing 'veni vidi vici'...

-missed most of pendulum to hear the verve... ugh

-missed hearing 'no new tale to tell' having left early getting a great spot for roger waters, who went on late anyway...

(and, in a way, i regret not catching dwight yoakam, cause his coach setlist sounded alot better than what he played at stage... and i would've been able to catch even more of the dan tynski band instead)

I really don't have any regrets, besides not getting into the fest in time to see Carbon/Silicon and Man Man.

1. I missed half of the Raconteurs' set because I went to Aphex Twin, but when I got there were too many people and I had a splitting headache so I left after somewhere around 3 songs.

2. Mark Ronson. Ricky Wilson was singing his own song, and Jamie from Klaxons sang 'Stop Me'. SO disappointed. Although, I am glad I stayed for all of Kraftwerk.

3. I missed the last 10 minutes of Cut Copy's set to go see Vampire Weekend, and they were a bit underwhelming. So I missed Cut Copy play 'Hearts on Fire', which is my favorite song by them.

Other than that, I had a wondeful Coachella.

That is awesome! I am assuming you were at Gogol Bordello too, was the "pit" (I hate calling it that) just like at Gogol? Because the crowd was incredibly friendly and considerate, considering how rowdy everyone was. So I am hoping it was like that at Flogging Molly.
