Hip hop dons OutKast could return in 2010 with rapper Big Boi claiming a new album is in the pipeline.
Outrageous and outspoken, OutKast were one of the most celebrated hip hop acts of the new Millennium. Combining Big Bio's street level vision with Andre 3000's psychedelic flair the group seemed to charge down barriers no one had even recognised as barriers.
Releasing their stunning album 'Speakerboxx / The Love Below' in 2003, OutKast became one of the few hip hop acts to have won 'Best Album' at the Grammy awards. A massive hit, the album has become the duo's final statement to date.
Rumours have surrounded the group for some time, with fans eager to any new material. Both members are reportedly working on solo material, with Big Boi now claiming that the group could release a new album in 2010.
The rapper told American magazine Billboard recently that he had completed his new solo album, which he revealed is named 'Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty'.
"This is all in the next year or so," he told Billboard, "starting with my album coming at the top of the year, Dre 3000 right after me... and when the solo albums come out, depending on how the fans support them, then we're gonna give them the Outkast album."
So the message is: buy the solo albums and you might, just might, get a new OutKast album. Continuing, Big Boi claimed that he was eager to head out on the road as part of a "high-powered funk energy extravaganza".
The P-Funk influence could extend to his new material, with the rapper recently releasing the track 'For Your Sorrows' - featuring George Clinton.
"Every song that I put out sounds totally different from the previous songs I put out. I slow-cooked this album and, man, I'm just so happy it's about to come out. I cannot wait to give it to the fans."
Please check out my blog Sleeping is Giving In for some great mixes and other good things!
Hell yes. Let this happen. Outkast 2010.
Old news. That article is from October. We already know they are focusing 2010 on releasing their solo albums and once that is all said and done they will consider work on a new Outkast album as long as the fans want it according to them.
So until you see two solo albums drop. No reason to even think about that new Kast album. We'll be lucky if it's out this year.
Maybe Big Boi this year, but I'm still guessing that's pretty unlikely.
i sign this every year
maybe it'll actually happen...

If Coachella happened tomorrow, Outkast couldn't headline. They haven't had a hit album since 2003. Their last project was that weird depression era Idlewind. They've never been known for having a particuliarly excellent live show either. In fact, Dre doesn't like to play live and hasn't done it for years.
In order for Outkast to headline (or even play) Coachella, they would need a new album this spring with some incredible songs to get them back in the minds of music fans. If that happens, they could headline.
But they won't be on that poster. Mark my words.
