Default I'm selling off the rest of my CDs if anyone is interested

I don't know if this breaks the "No Spam" rule, but here ya go...

I've done three auctions like this on Ebay before and always made a few bucks off it so I'm selling off the rest of my collection since I'm completely giving in to the iPod.

93 albums total...There's plenty of great albums in this mix...Check it out if you wish.

Easy, big fella...That's actually a conservative figure. Last time I sold about 150 CDs (not of this quality, either) and the winning bid was over $500. If you use Buy It Now on this auction it would be just $3.76 per album.

I'm actually surprised at how much I make off these CD auctions. You should all try it out sometime if you have a bunch of CDs laying around.

actually I don't have my PC connected to my reciever (because I would need a updated newer reciever), but you would pretty much connect from your sound card to the back inputs on the reciever. You would need a fancy/good sound card btw for superior sound. I'm not exactly sure what cables you would use...I would suspect you can probably do some sort of optical out these days for the best quality sound. I've known some guys who have done it before (mostly for gaming), it would be cool to do (I would do it for music purposes obviously). Mainly because storing lots of files via external hard drives beats changing CDs all the time.

I'm sure someone knows more about connecting your PC to a reciever better than I do...

Or you can just connect a killer sound system/speakers/subwoofer directly into your sound card too....I only have some shitty dell 5.1 speakers right now, but I have a 24bit/96 audigy zs sound card.

they both are....seriously, CD's these days are so out of date....with everything going digital, and the ability to purchase/download digital files that are of better quality than CD, meaning 24bit/48-96hz quality....cd's just seem like such a waste these days.

but trust me, I have thousands of CD-R's in my house, a lot of my live music/recordings are just on CD's...so I still support the format, but it is def out of date. If I have a choice, of playing a cd of some live recording I have, or just playing the FLAC files in winamp, I'll choose the latter. Having CDs is nice to know though, in case of car trips, road trips with discman, and for back up as well (as external hard drives are never 100% safe - it's always good to have DVD-R data discs for back up as well).

Neil Young is putting out his Archives box set on Blu-Ray discs. Perhaps this is the future in terms of a physical format.

I'd consider going digital if I could actually find some lossless (drm free as well please) d/l's to buy but I'll be cold in my grave before I give iShit and the like my $. Where are these 24bit d/l's you speak of.

I'll take the Camper Van Beethoven and Lydia Lunch.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

Ok I am going to have to call you out on this one. Unless you have an expensive stereo system, as in $10k and up, you aren't going to hear the difference between a cd and the higher formats you are talking about. Most people can't hear the difference between mp3s at 192 and a cd. And you personally aren't going to be able to tell if you keep going to shows without wearing earplugs.

mp3s at 320 and cds... agreed, most people will never know the difference.

mp3s at 192 and cds... disagreed. that difference becomes quite noticeable after a few months of mp3s listening.

but where can we buy mp3s at higher than 192 kbps? nowhere. d'oh.
