I had no idea what he'd do, and I bet he didn't either. Ended up seeing a Jane's set with a drum machine. The house beats actually worked pretty well for "Just Because", and he didn't spoil things by having his (rather good) guitar player ruin "3 Days" or anything.

Overall, a pretty good off-the-cuff show. Perry '09!

Farrell was worse than Uffie simply because he should do a whole let better than that half assed performance he gave. I don't think anyone expected a whole lot from Uffie and I agree she pretty much stunk despite actually being a fan of some of her tunes.

Honestly I didn't see a badly done set. It wasn't an epic jane's set, it was an off-the-cuff "hey, coachella buddies, i'm gonna play some songs you guys like!" set. It wasn't full of mistakes or anything. Maybe he played the rock songs we like because he's sick of hearing how he sucks as a DJ. He's just there for the party, and he entertained me while I chilled out in the shade on a hot afternoon.

He did not suck (Uffie) stop performing and pout for 15 minutes (MIA) or have technical difficulties (everyone). He wasn't wasted. He WAS late.

As an avid Jane's fan (9 times!) I say it was good, not great, but good. I enjoyed hearing those songs in another way. For a 2pm (er... 2:35) show you can't complain.

And yes, Uffie was terrible.

I was hoping she'd be over-the-top terrible, but she was simply just not at all talented. It was like amateur improve karaoke. I'd start a separate thread, but she deserves no more publicity, anywhere.

I couldn't help thinking that this type of show is what Perry will be doing in Las Vegas in his golden years. I also wonder what a 20-something Perry would say if he could see into the future, and witness the house/lounge style put forth last Sunday.

Before he came on, as soon as I figured out who Perry Farrell was, I got the hell out of that tent. I'm a Jane's Addiction fan, sort of, but I knew it couldn't be good if the former singer of a big 90s band had a 2:30 slot.
