Why does everyone hate scalpers so much? Shit, it's such a great way to make money..
Coachella 07 was a GOLD MINE.

there is SOME personal drive that goes into scalping, but yeah they COMPLETELY lack integrity and there is one word to describe them, and that is SCUM or DELTA whatever works best.
why can't KROQ get a lineup like that now? FUCK
What is the difference between scalping and buying something for wholesale re-selling it? Fuck, this board must be filled with communist..
Scalping shouldn't be illegal, it's bullshit. I buy tickets along with everyone else, if someone is willing to pay twice the value of something, and I am willing to sell it, I don't see a problem. Same thing goes with prostitution. Scalping is also risky.. It is not guaranteed.. I almost lost money with Rock the Bells last year, and expecting an instant sell-out, but since they moved it to Glen Helen, it gave room to sell a lot more tickets. Luckily, TM gave me a refund because the change of the venue.

I don't have a problem with people selling the extra tickets that they already have for whatever the market will bear. I ended up with an extra ticket to the Led Zeppelin show in London last December, and the price I got for it paid for my air travel.
What I do hate are professional scalpers. The guys who hang around the entrance to sold out shows, buying up every single spare ticket, then turning around and trying to sell them for 3x what they paid.
I gained a new hatred for professional scalpers at the Atmosphere show this past Tuesday. I didn't have a ticket, so I decided I would just go anyway (five minute drive from my house) and try to buy somebody's spare. I got there just in time to see some woman handing over a ticket to this man and being handed money in exchange. It looked like the guy gave her about $40 for the ticket, which is just a little over face value.
That same guy tried to turn around and sell me the ticket for $100.
I was so angry. If I had gotten there a few minutes earlier, I could have had this woman's ticket for a decent price. But thanks to this piece of shit, I didn't get to see Atmosphere.
Still no word on tickets, huh?
This is kind of a ridiculous way to go about doing this. I didn't see anything wrong with Weenie Roast's old setup. Simply get a much bigger venue (Angel Stadium? Dodger Stadium? Staples Center?) and put the tickets up for sale way in advance. There's really no reason for a lineup with this much drawing power to be playing a venue as tiny as Irvine.
The way it's currently structured, you don't even get the lineup until two weeks in advance, and no one knows if they can go or not. Most people I know like to plan things in advance; this setup is completely not conducive to that at all.
Here's the info:
•
Tickets go on sale Wednesday May 14 at 5PM

Just got the password in an e-mail from KROQ Street Team. I'm not sure, but this password seems pretty generic. There are no numbers, and it's one easily recognizable word. There may only be one password for everyone. If this gets confirmed, that means that non Street Team members (and possibly non L.A. residents) could buy tickets with the password.
Thom Thom, thanks for all your help. Even if Buttspring and Shittywise suck, Metallica, The Raconteurs and Bad Religion should rock the house.
I don't know what I'm going to do during Seether's set though. I always change the station when their songs come on. Maybe I'll go buy a beer or something.
