I agree, Modeselektor brought the heavy fucking bass it was awesome. I got into "Happy Birthday!" before coming and I'm glad I did because their set bumped my audiosexual organs all over the place. I liked how they even had the epic "burp" before Sucker Pin started and I loved how the switched up the bass on that song live. One of the top acts for me...
This is the reason they were my favorite, though a couple other acts are def in the running for best of the weekend. Groovy, dubby, techy, maniacal!
Eh, I've already seen sia, and while I think she is quite talented - her set is much better served by an intimate venue. a little too slow for me on that day.
out of all the artists this is who i danced to most, amazing set!
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!.......
i showed a few of my friends darkside of the sun. and they can't stop listening to it. its pretty hilarious
Pumpers like to pump, Pumpers Need to pump.
never heard of them before i came, went to from about the middle of their set on and fucking blown away. best sahara act hands down
fever ray motherfuckers
First song I ever heard from them was the beautiful "The White Flash" on the radio, so I thought they were "chillout" artists but they're obviously much more than that.
OUTKAST 2014
Röyksopp, FC Kahuna, Télépopmusik, The Knife, RJD2, Futue Sound of London, The Avalanches, 808 State, Zero 7, Tycho, Mr. Scruff
This brings back some happy memories!
I stayed for their show not knowing who/wat there are or wat their music was like but I was blown away...they became one of my favorite artists overnight and but their "happy birthday" album at the virgin store after their performance

yeah i'll be there with bells on
i started a thread yesterday for this in misc. babble. im going as well and so is my gf. we should all meet up at the bar and have a drink
just got back from the show...it was fucking incredible...modeselektor really did an amazing set and otto was nutty as always...i was talking to one of the guys from modeselektor about coachella and how thought roger waters was the most amazing show he had seen...ill try to get some vids and pics up tomorrow...they even remixed a bjork song it was a new one of volta which i dont know to well it was the duet song bjork did with the deep voiced man.
Im pretty sure it was one of the duets with antony hegarty from antony and the johnsons. I thought that remix was random , but nicely layered into their set.
how can i describe this show! Good times good times indeed. I was throughly impressed, these guys wrote the book on tearing it up. I met them during soundcheck and they were very chill, friendly easy going dudes. respect! Gernot said they had fun at Coachella, and that tonight was going to be the same, the weather's still hot it's just a vacation to them- Based on their response at Coachella I thought the show would sell out but it was a last minute addition to their tour cause they had a recent cancellation in Canada. Which turned out great for everyone who was there! The venue wasn't packed to capacity which made it more comfortable but the crowd was still loving every minute of it.
I actually just saw otto the day before with blowfly. BLowfly was awesome And in the gajillion times i've seen Otto it's always something different. He's a character. The crowd went ballistic when they performed the Hyper hyper track together it was like 10x better live than on cd. Though I think Modeselektor's intro shoulda synced up seamlessly from Otto's end to keep the madness going..
Based on the live clips i seen recently, I imagined them performing an elongated crescendo dispersed throughout the life of their set to a high peak. Which looking back was more or less right on point. They started with their slower tranquiler stuff and broke loose in just a few songs over. Their acidy bass and glitchy beats built a throbbing build and release that that seemed to pierce the sky (or the ceiling really since it was an indoor venue.) They definitely have a distinguished sound that sets them apart from the rest right now. Visuals were tight as well. screens were a little on the small side but it didn't really matter it was all about the music and the way they played off each other to create the magic that worked us over.
This is probably one of the best (electronic) shows I've seen this year. outside of WMC at least. Underworld @ ultra takes the cake for that. simian mobile disco was fucking rad too. I'm glad they came to Miami - we hardly ever see shows of this caliber come down this far south. They occur more often than not in most other places around the country, with a handful of exceptions, wmc of course and to some extent,Art Basel which are both huge one-week-out-of-the-Year kind of things, and some events in the fall here and there. i missed modeselektor at coachella so i lit up when I heard the news they were playing here. Hopefully we can see these Germans again sometime.
I'll try to post some shit up - my camera died just after they came on

Otto preformed with Blowfly! the original dirty rapper? That would have been an awesome show to see.
Thanks for the review.
Not sure if this has been mentioned:

These guys dont mess around when it comes to touring. 1st, they pull off playing back to back nights from London to frickin Coachella, earlier this year. And now they are hitting 4 major cities in back to back to back to back nights.
