I had never heard of this band until yesterday. Have they been relevant in the last 10-20 years? Watched a couple vids with an open mind, wasn't really impressed. Reminds me of Love & Rockets in that I don't understand the praise. Maybe you had to be around when they were in their prime?

This add made me so happy that I started almost laughing/crying/hyperventilating in hysterics.
I love Redd Kross. They rock. And I love me some rock. Anyone who doesn't get it clearly wasn't there and by "there" I mean the for the budding of power-pop-punk (yeah, I know the popular radio version of the genre needs work, but it kicked ass then and some bands still do).
Redd Kross are seminal in this regard. Their first album was out before all of them had even made it into high school (in 1980 no less!) and they had the post-modern lyrical thing down as teenagers. If you take a look at one of those family trees of the beginnings of the LA punk scene and you'll get a sense of their place in the process.
They've always been too ahead of their time for their own good.
Anyway, it's nice when people stop by a thread, take the time to fart, and publicly write the whole thing off. Maybe these so-called music fans should try researching a bit more since their negative opinions ultimately serve no other purpose than to dis the band you are talking about, their fan base, and the Coachella organizers.
Oh yeah, and, I guess, Danny DeVito. It's just not right, I tell ya.
I guess I'm just glad they won't be hanging with me and Danny, joyfully bouncing to the sounds of Annie's Gone, One Chord Progression, or perhaps an excellent cover of Deuce.
