Well, they were my #1 must-see for Saturday anyway, but I've never seen them before, so I don't have anything to offer in that respect.
Hehe, dude. You are very wrong. The girl that sings Two Doves is the keyboardist and she is absolutely amazing. Stillness was a serious disapppoint to be honest (it was my favorite Dirty Projectors song going in.) Oh how their live performance seriously changed my perspective of the band! Two Doves was one of the most beautiful things I've ever witnessed in my entire life and that song pretty much did nothing for me on the album.
Ah, you must be talking about Angel then. Because Hayley doesn't play much.

serious change in direction. not sure how I feel about it, but I'm all for a shake up.
Not a bad tune. Very interested to hear what the rest of the album is like.
The new Dirty P's song is fucking awesome.
Ooh, this new song bodes...well.

Hmm. I like the sound of the song, but fuck, man. Longstreth should know his limits. The parts where he really tries to hit the high notes are pretty bad sounding.

Oh, I didn't know this thread existed (Chris...yes, a combination of work and that I appear to be less "honed in" to this board than others is why I'm just now on this song today).
I like the new song. I'm not sure how this amounts to a new direction, though? Seems like a natural extension of Bitte Orca to me, albeit a little more pop-y. And, Pot...huh? Are you also making a change in direction statement with that? If so, wow...I don't hear Blonde Redhead in this at all. It will be interesting to see how the entire album turns out.

Dirty Projectors have announced the long-awaited follow-up to 2009's Bitte Orca. Swing Lo Magellan is out July 10 in the U.S. and July 9 internationally via Domino. The album includes the just-released track "Gun Has No Trigger", as well as previously discussed tracks "Maybe That Was It", "About to Die" ("a Thriller-style song"), and "Swing Lo Magellan" (about GPS systems).
Dave Longstreth wrote, recorded, produced, and mixed the album, with input from the other band members: Amber Coffman, Haley Dekle, Nat Baldwin, and Brian McOmber. (Angel Deradoorian is "on hiatus" from the band, according to a press release.)
Dirty Projectors have two shows scheduled right now: At the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago July 13-15, and at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn July 10.
Check out the tracklist
Swing Lo Magellan:
01 Offspring Are Blank
02 About to Die
03 Gun Has No Trigger
04 Swing Lo Magellan
05 Just From Chevron
06 Dance for You
07 Maybe That Was It
08 Impregnable Question
09 See What She Seeing
10 The Socialites
11 Unto Caesar
12 Irresponsible Tune
I'm sure that's the reason why Angel took a break. She's been writing her own music and, perhaps, that didn't mix well with this project (and her stuff is pretty solid, from the little that I've heard).Dave Longstreth wrote, recorded, produced, and mixed the album, with input from the other band members: Amber Coffman, Haley Dekle, Nat Baldwin, and Brian McOmber. Between this and that first single, it seems this new album might be much less frenetic, and moodier as well. I loved their last album, but I also welcome the change. Good stuff.

Well, I'm glad they didn't replace Deradoorian with someone attractive.
Coachella - 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
SS Coachella - 2012
I suppose she's attractive if you have a thing for Juliette Binoche.

Album is kind of meh for me... I liked 4-5 songs.
I wish he'd just make a whole album along the lines of Irresponsible Tune, it'd be a contemporary version of Another Side of Bob Dylan
I'd ring it.
@DirtyProjectors: Our show at Music Hall of Williamsburg will be live streaming tonight on youtube! 10pm EST http://t.co/QMg7Wd0F

Just got done watching the stream, they sounded amazing.
Maybe That Was It is a MONSTER live.
missed the stream, but it looks like it's going to be available all day tomorrow!
I think their new album is amazing, by the way.
where is the hip hop remix of "Gun Has No Trigger"?
when I listen to that song, I feel like somebody like Jay-Z is going to come on and kick a verse. That'd be a cool collaboration.
