I will double confirm this somehow.
I will double confirm this somehow.
Really good show. One of the girls needs vocal lessons, she sings very pitchy. Although, maybe it was just tonight she was having trouble.
Just got back from both Dirty Projectors shows in San Diego (Birch Theater) and LA (Jensen Rec Center) and they were both fantastic shows.
Two Doves seems to be quite the spellbinding experience in both cases and the band itself consists of superb harmonizing and unbelieveable chemistry. Definitely one of the best live acts around.
All of you fuckers are in for a real treat... DO NOT MISS THEM AT COACHELLA.
My confirmation came from Angel, who is an absolute sweetheart. On a side note, BRANDON, I wish I would have obtained your number before the show, my friend and I would have greatly appreciated some of your help around the North Park area. We waited around in both the lobby and the bar to see if we could catch you. =(
THANKS for asking!!! I am so happy they will be there![]()

I was looking up some videos, the girls voice does stand out. It's not bad, but she is a bit nasally. The blonde haired girl.
Nope. The timbre of her voice being different or not to your liking does not mean that the notes are wrong. She's a great vocalist and has a very powerful voice.

I know the diff. between timbre, and having some nasally tendencies. She is a strong singer, but a bit nasally. People covered their ears sometimes because of how she was singing(pitchy, nasally, whatever works for you). When singing great people don't need to cover their ears. Also I never said that notes are wrong, just a bit off. I'm sure it was just a one night thing. for the record I went to the early show last night. So enough on that, how long did they play for during the 2nd show? cause the first show was about 1 hour.
When someone says that a vocalist is pitchy, they mean that the notes aren't correct, which is what it seems like you are saying. I dont understand how a note can be correct but "a bit off." Also people covering their ears could have been due to volume. Some peoples voice resonate differently to different people, and a number of factors (mics, speakers, volume, room acoustics) can contribute to how you perceive the sound. She sounds great on the record, and of the three times I have seen the band she and the other girls have been consistently fantastic.
Sushov I also would like to add that alot of what you supposedly endured with Amber's voice (which was fucking phenomenal in my opinion) may have had alot to do with the horrible sound at the Jensen Rec Center. Also, I went to the second show and can confirm that they played for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. The Birch Theater in SD was a much better venue for them, that place is perfect.
pissed i couldn't go this weekend. i hope they are indeed at Coachella because they're becoming one of my favorite new bands

So excited for tonight. What was the setlist for the LA show?
SD was pretty much all of Bitte Orca, some of which was played acoustic which was kind of cool, and Ascending Melody, Knotty Pine and that new one they did with Bjork months ago. I dont think they played anything off of Rise Above or before that.
yeah, LA early show had (I think in this order):
The Bride
Ascending Melody
No Intention
Two Doves (acoustic)
Useful Chamber (acoustic)
Remade Horizon (acoustic)
Temecula Sunrise (acoustic)
Stillness is the Move
Cannibal Resource
Fluorescent Half Dome
The song they played on Jimmy Fallon
Something I hadn't heard with a line that went something like "Tie up the sticks"
They played everything but Fluorescent Half Dome off of Bitte Orca tonight, plus Knotty Pine and two earlier songs I didn't recognize.
Also, Sushov you're on something, because Angel's voice was fucking on key tonight.
Goddamn brilliant show, they need a better opener though because Little Wings was mediocre. Bimbo's is a classy venue.
Her name started with an A thats all sushov would know.
So.....
Feb 27th @ Disney Hall with The L.A. Phil, YEAH!!!
he mentioned the blonde girl - that's Amber.
