Hey Attendees, let's get everyone posting their Favs with brief comments in here. I wasn't much for Sahara Tent, prefering the rock acts to the dance acts...but here's what I've got
My top Ten
10. Grande Ole Party - Early Sunday Act, don't even think they have record out yet, but Female Lead Singer/Drummer fantasticly charismatic in a Karen O/Chrissy Hinde sort of way...and sound also similar to Yeah Yeah Yeahs but with a slightly funkier groove...for an unsigned act a very compelling performance.
9. Les Savy Fav - A+ for positively scary unpredictability from frontman and kick ass rocking...D- for set list...For those not familiar with LSF, they're a wildly eclectic act with some great songs, some good songs, and some positively abrassive songs...felt like set list highlighted only the abbrassive material...slightly slower but fantastic songs like Comes and Goes, The Lowest Bitter, Pots & Pans all left off list, as well as Pattie Lee (unless they opened with it, as I missed opening minutes while at Battles.
8. Akron/Family - Aside from Black Mountain, no band was done a bigger scheduling disservice by GV than Akron/Family...pitted against M.I.A., Portishead, and another East Coast Art Rock band Animal Collective, with whom they share a lot of fans, they had to start their set with 1/3 the crowd that was present for Day openers American Bang, Brett Dennen, or The Birds and the Bee. Watching them then tear through their always unpredictable anything goes brand of communal prog folk and by end of set have pulled Gobi to near capacity attendance was one of the warmest Coachella moments for me. And despite a myriad of technical problems (a bass drum became dislodged at one point), set closer ED IS A PORTAL was one of the top 5 single song performances of entire festival.
7. Jens Lekmen - Way better than I expected, accompanied by brass and an adorable four piece outfit of earnest, cute-as-a-button nerdy girls, this was the most charming show of the entire weekend. Armed with a phenomenal set list culled from his last two albums and a classicists totally knowledge of balladry's long history...an intoxicating joy from start to it's glorious finish on Sweet Nectar.
6. My Morning Jacket - Jesus Christ, is there a concert venue anywhere big enough to contain Jame's voice - Positively spectacular Rock n' Roll.
5. The National - Expected the emotion, but not how huge their subtle, nuanced songs would translate live...no show the entire weekend had more epic emotional crescendos...almost U2ish in it's emotive sweep. Best set list of entire festival.
4. Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings - Sharon Jones if a fucking Force of Nature. What else can be said...there are musicians and singers, and then there flat out spectacular, natural entertainers...Sharon Jones is that...Prince's show was phenomenal...but no artist all weekend had more individual stage presence than Ms. Jones.
3. Portishead - I don't think anyone moved on stage the entire set, but that sound! And Gibbons emotional nakedness. Wow...couldv'e listened all night.
2. Roger Waters - Music as Theatre taken to it's highest level, all to the backing of one of the truly landmark recordings (Dark Side) in Rock n' Roll History. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.
1. Prince - This was even better...As I watched, one thought kept going through my mind - is this the greatest live entertainer on the planet?. Seriously folks, aside from his servicable but limited pipes he does everything else with spectacular mastery. He plays guitar with the dexterity and imagination of Hendrix, dances better than Michael Jackson, and as a band leader at least the equal of James Brown if not even better because of his more broadly innovative range of tastes. I've never been a huge fan of his recorded work...a lot of the production often sounded thin to me...but this show was anything but...and I loved the unpredictable set list...felt like this show was custom crafted for Coachella and he had been working on it for months.
HM - Raconteurs, Stephen Malmkus (Hopscotch Willie one of ten best individual song performances of entire festival), MIA(what an Entrance), I'm From Barcelona, Man Man (much better Insane act than Black Lips), Flogging Molly, Black Mountain (for one song I caught)
Disappointments, Minor and Major -
DeVotchKa (bassist fainted two-thirds way thru set just when they were finally picking up steam),
Battles (left early, heard it got better, love their album, but to much back to the audience knob turning for my tastes in a live show regardless of how insanely talented they are as musicians),
Gogol Bordello (great energy & showmanship, but couldn't totally overcome the hit or miss songwriting chops that's always been the bands shortcoming, even in abbreviated sets)
Black Lips - If you go for the drunken to the point of stumbling raucous thing, you probably enjoyed them...unfortunately, minimal talent compared even to most of the 12:30 in the afternoon acts, and a weak pool of songs to draw from.
Vampire Weekend/MGMT - The Cars acts for this generation...did a decent job replicated the hits...but just are not seasoned live performers yet...Vampire Weekend probably the better of the two, as their debut album is the much better of the two, but still, both left me wondering what their real careers will end up being 10 years down the road.

Sublime weekend
I had to miss Sunday so this is only the top 10 of Friday and Sunday
10. The Swell Season (loudest acoustic show I've ever heard, great voice)
9. Yoav (I'm a sucker for the sound looping stuff)
8. John Butler Trio (a jam band I actually really like)
7. Dredg (Wish I could have heard more, too hot and no shade)
6. Sasha & Digweed (Danced my ass off and there was plenty of room)
5. Jack Johnson (Flame away, I really like the song w/ Mason Jennings which was also played at the Kokau festival in Hawaii last weekend, didn't think I would hear it again so soon. Mason needs to be on the line up for '09)
4. Adam Freeland (I though I was gonna turn inside out from the bass during "Hate")
3. Yelle (Surprise of the weekend, saved a big let down from MIA)
2. The National (One of biggest conflicts of the weekend, missed Goldfrapp for them but it was worth it)
1. Pendulum (Been waiting for this for awhile so I'm jaded.)
HM: Devotchka (I wish this was in the mojave, I was overheated by this point...too many outdoor bands in a row), Minus the Bear, VHS or Beta, Jens Lekman, The Raconteurs
Disappointments: MIA (too many people and too many gun shots and sirens, sounded like a game of GTA was being played, wish I would have left sooner to catch Kraftwerk), Scars on Broadway (guess I don't like Daren's voice that much), Vampire Weekend (Voice sounds better recorded than live and the new song that played the vocal work was awful), Kate Nash (only stayed for about 3 songs, crackling was coming from the speakers)
1. Hot Chip (played all of my favorite songs in a row. best set i've ever heard from them. can't wait to see them tonight).
2. The Swell Season (interesting set, seemed like a Glen Hansard featuring.... kinda set, but I fooking love that guy, so what can i say?)
3. Mum (they were my "holy shit!" band of the weekend like Avett Brothers was last year)
4. Portishead (lying out in an open field watching the spotlights dance around in the sky while listening to this band is as close as i came to feeling on drugs all weekend long)
5. Sharon Jones (I was fucking exhausted by the time they came on and she gave me a shot of adrenaline within the first song. She is fucking brilliant. Electric. She's Electric.)
6. Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip (Scroobius is ridiculously entertaining and the baddest mf on the planet. I got to meet him afterwards and got a pic with him which made me a giddy school girl)
7. Sia (she just has a crazy good production she puts on. her voice is to die for)
8. Mark Ronson (way better than I remember him at the El Rey. maybe he just needs a bigger stage)
9. Holy Fuck (way awesomer than I expected and I also didn't expect to run into like 2189348 board members there. Shout out to fasttrack, betao, rage patton and sonofhal! and York...fucking FINALLY, dude. I'm sorry I couldn't stay to chat)
10. A-track w/ Kid Sister (Kid Sister is like the female equivalent of Scroobius Pip to me. So badass. I love her. And A-track tore it up. Such a great set).
Honorable Mention: Kraftwerk, Simian Mobile Disco, Chromeo, John Butler Trio ("Ocean" almost brought me to tears)
Regret: Intentionally skipping Junkie XL to just chill out
Disappointments: Kate Nash (girl was PISSED and it came out in her set. worst set of the weekend for me in ratio to how much i was looking forward to it), MGMT, Man Man, Modeselektor.

I'm better at top 5's. Those who did not see Sunday have incomplete lists.....
day-after reactions:
10. Linton Kwesi Johnson - all spoken word. He read poems and told stories. I thought I'd stay for a few minutes and 45 minutes later I was still standing there mesmerized.
9. Holy Fuck - stupid band name but they're quite good
8. Sharon Jones - energetic, charismatic, soulful, fun
7. Carbon/Silicon - one of my heroes, did not disappoint
6. Kraftwerk - I was surprised at how entertaining minimalism could be.
5. Dwight Yoakam - he was just on. Would be rated higher if he didnt' close with an Eagles cover.
4. My Morning Jacket - wow
3. The National - it took me a while to come around to these guys, but the Coachella set really connected with me (they disappointed at ACL last fall).
2. Gogol Bordello - such fun.
