Default The Swell Season (Or should I say the Busy Season)

So I watched coachella on the blueroom, than i got tired and called it a night. When I got in my bed I turned on the TV to catch the news and it was on ABC, Jimmy Kimmel Live. He says "And well be right back with our musical guests 'The Swell Season'. So I think to myself. Wow This band had to record this show at 3:30 that day and than drive all the way to Coachella to make it on time to play their set. Busy band

Wow. That is quite the drive. It's really a shame they couldn't stay to watch more bands. It's been great on Saturday.

Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová are brilliant creatures.

no way, not on a friday with traffic getting out of l.a. and all. they were in the artist trailer section by 2 or 3. glen was walking around with what looked like an old school film movie camera, too. wondering if he was working on something???

I saw Marketa eating an orange in VIP right when I first got there and then I was watching John Butler trio and when I turned around to leave after "Ocean" they were standing right behind me. So they were definitely there all day. I know they were on Kimmel before their show at the El Rey last August so that was probably a repeat. If he didn't mention anything about them winning an Oscar it was definitely a repeat.

Non Sequitor - Marketa was walking around with a big Swell Season tote. I was kind of jealous. I should check their site and see if they sell those or if its a one of a kind thing.

I am such a simp but I cried at their show. We were really up close and it was just amazing. I can't wait to see them again. The sounded really great live and Glen talks a bit in between songs which is great because you get to see his personality. Marketa didn't do any of the songs were she was the primary but it was still incredible. I hope they come to San Diego with The Frames.

the frames were a highlight of 2007's coachella.

i can't say i am a big fan of the swell season as opposed to hansard's old band. but i do hope he has more commercial success with the swell season. he deserves it.

He's definitely having more commercial success with the Swell Season. I mean their movie made a ton and I bet they've sold more albums than the Frames individual records. Hmmm I need to check and see when the Frames are in SD. I drove down to see them at Belly Up last year. I fucking love that band.

Here's the vid I shot of "Falling Slowly," as well as a couple pics... I can't seem to figure out how to embed MySpace video, so if anyone knows, please tell me and I'll edit this accordingly. Thanks.

I saw them at Primevera Sound on Friday. Beautiful stuff and to top it all, they closed with 'Fitzcarraldo', one of my favourite Frames songs.

I concur. Plus Glen came into the audience to play the first song completely unplugged.

    RDJ is quite frankly unlistenable.

When did they play Falling Slowly? I'm guessing it was earlier on because I went and saw the end for the express purpose of watching Falling Slowly, so was a little disappointed.
