Experience with Cameras?

Anyone here bring a decent camera and not get sent away? I've got a consumer level DSLR and since we're coming up from canada want to take lots of shots of the festival and whatanot...last year I didn't bring anything...

Just wondering how strict they are about the 'removable lens' thing if you're only bringing in one dinky lens? Hell, even my Canon A80 point and shoot has a removeable lens...

Rules state no professional cameras, which means any cams with a removable lens are not allowed unless you have a photo pass. I am sure people have gotten them in but I am just stating the rules.

obviously I know there is a rule about removable lenses if I asked if they were strict about it :P

If it was easier to get a photo pass I would just apply for one...since I don't want stage access or anything, just to get some decent shots from the crowd.

Well you could have been asking both, I will say that it does get enfocred hows that? You could apply for a photo pass and not use yoru stage access and shoot form the crowd. I have seen plenty of photographers get back into the crowd after their stage time is done....

I inquired about a photopass for freelance / internet based media and was told photo****** were only availiable to photographers from national publications...which seems a little bit backwards to me, but is not my call.

My friend brought in his camera WITH a removable lens easily on both days last year. Can't remember what he did exactly...maybe had the camera in one bag and the lens in another. They certainly weren't strict about it.

Su***fan is right.When I went in the Camper entrance in ***5 I had 2 bags a backpack,which was thoroughly searched(they confiscated my Sharpies!)and a small camera bag with a Viewmaster Camera(with two removable lenses) which I fully expected to not be allowed to bring in.They neglected to even look in that bag at all.I could've been carrying a .38 or even Sharpies in that bag for Chrissake!

Yeah I usually put sharpies like in hidden pockets on my backpack and its the only way to get water in too.... Camper Entrance rulez!

yes you can. lots of people bring them. I brought mine and got a lot of great footage last year

Sweet thanks... so it's just the massive, nice cameras that they say no to...
I can only imagine the battle i'll face getting up close enought to get decent shots though

me and another friend both got our removable lens cameras in two years in a row. i just take the lens off and put it in a friends bag. they aren't too sketchy....you can imagine what else gets through....

I'm getting another camera for this, I had 2 last year and it worked out perfectly. I just need to be able to upload somewhere every night since I dont have a laptop. I borrowed my friends Ipod and it worked liek a charm but I dont have access to one this year,

get extra memory cards for your cam and you won't have to worry about uploading
