I thought rage fans were smart. Same as tool fans.
Big day out and this messageboard has raped my conception of two of my favourite bands. I fear for the future.

You take a big enough sample of people and you'll always have an eejit sneak in there. About 5 is the magic number.

....hell yeah they're gonna play Bullet. they wrote that song about the first gulf war....no way Zach doesn't update it for everyone.

the day the most recent war in iraq started I had that song in my head all day. oddly enough, audioslave was playing here in SFthat night....and it just always bummed me out that it wasn't Rage.

anyhow, I've never been to a Rage show where they didn't play Bullet...its a staple.

there is no way in hell that bullet in the head is about the first gulf war.

...oh totally....Bush the 1st sold it to us through the networks...ie. the "in-house drive by."

if you listen to some of the early rage bootlegs from the first tour, Zach would always preface the song about the Gulf War or the middle east in general.

no idea what they are/were mate. i was about 4 when the first gulf war broke out and about 6 or 7 when the RATM debut came out.

i'm pretty sure the song is about the media being used as an indoctrination tool by the government.

...well...you're right...but its specifically in the case of the first gulf war, which was a media-fueled venture from top to bottom. I think I was a freshman in high school at the time and I remember that they made us wear these little yellow ribbons on our basketball jersey to support the troops. people bought into that war without even knowing shit about the situation....

anyhow...I also think Zach got "Bullet in the Head" from the last page of Orwell's 1984. Orwell used "Bullet in the Head" to say that Winston Smith had become so indoctrinated that he was the living dead.

..there's a sick remix of Bullet from the extended Bombtrack EP. I'll send you a MP3 if you've never heard it.

that yellow ribbon thing is sick. we have the same with poppies over here in the UK. people just buy them, not caring what it's about, just because it represents people who died in world war 1, and most other wars too. i never wear them. that's another debate though...

your use of words... are not what orwell would probably have preferred... though you do show an understanding of that book so i'll leave it.

and is that remix the acoustic version? cos that is pretty cool.

...yeah, I shouldn't debate a Brit on Orwell. thanks for going easy on the assessment. no, the remix is...its just the remix. that same ep has the slow version of bombtrack from the bbc session if that's what your referring to.

It's weird. My friend is a Tool fan, and she's really smart. Yet, my cousin is a major Tool fan, and he thought David Spade was a magician and Ray Ramono was a woman.

What do these people think 46&2 is, third eye, etc.
Do they just think they're pretty words? Do they even care? Wouldn't they rather have a band that sounds like tool but bitches about their girlfriends not giving head or something? Makes me cry...
