A random new NIN single dropped today...its called Discipline. just DL it and it sounds pretty damn good...i enjoy hearing his voice again. he said he is posting it up on Nin.com tonight for us to download for free. if you guys have heard post thoughts here.....oh and btw i bought a purple shirt today for Prince

Like from the start, he doesn't make the music with the purpose of selling record shattering amounts. He makes what he likes, and the changes in his music that have taken place over the last 20 years in it is inevitable. Growth as a person, growth as a musician. I think Ghosts is actually brilliant and so is the producing he's been doing with Saul Williams for Niggy Tardust.

Changed or not...Trent and his music has been on a downward spiral for years now, and the only way he can continue to get his fans to listen to it is create a bunch of internet hype and give it away for free, because no one in their right mind would actually wanna goto the store and pay for With Teeth, Year Zero 1 2 3 4 and whatever else he is gonna have in store.

Speak for yourself. I, myself, being of a very sound mind, bought 'With Teeth', 'Year Zero' and the deluxe edition of Ghosts, as well as took my free downloads. I thought it was generous, the amount of artwork that came with both and was really pleasing. I wouldn't say I'm a overboard-hardcore fan, but more than your average, I do happen to have a large sin tattoo on the back of my neck. He doesn't really make the music for the fans, I've already said this before, and that I'm sure at this point he isn't hurting for money that's for sure. His music/art has always been an outlet for him and always will be. It's great for him if they buy it, but if you still believe that he does it for that reason, you really don't get Trent Reznor, or the point of why I said that.

The new song doesnt do too much for me...but its NIN... Ill always support Trent in one way or another... I wouldnt give up on an artist cause they have released a few boring albums recently...or else not many people would like REM, Metallica, Beastie Boys anymore...

I enjoy With Teeth, Year Zero and Ghosts. I'm a big NIN fan but will admit that while some of the individual tracks from these records have been superb, the albums taken in whole are not quite up to the earlier work. Given that, they are still much more interesting and personal than most of what I hear out there.

It's great that Reznor is energized again and dropping Halos at a clip. His recent live shows have been outstanding. I look forward to all of his future releases.

Well if Trent is truly producing/making his music and art for himself, not caring what fans would think otherwise, then why the whole viral marketing campaign for Year Zero? Why go through all the trouble of leaving flash drives loaded with mp3s in bathrooms, leaving hidden messages on walls and websites, and whatever else the hell he did?

Never mind the fact, that the viral marketing was used to push this new album of his down their throats and expose it any way possible that he could, because he knew if he would of released it like any other standard album before that, almost no one would of cared. I like individual songs on Year Zero, but I don't like how the album flows together. He used to do that so well. And I think I screwed my own listening pleasure on Ghosts I because it's on an mp3 CD with a bunch of Beatles albums (just getting into them, sue me), and I keep skipping over the NIN.
