Here is an introduction to the upcoming shows thread:

While Sigur Ros is deserving of all the acclaim we can muster, you'll get a pretty good audience in that thread.

I was trying to be nice... It's just this has already been posted and discussed in detail... And when I see "Sigur Ros" posts I get excited for new info or dates or whatever... So this thread left me with an empty heart and a hollow soul...

I'm actually touched Jared. Now who would seriously want to see a band as beautiful as Sigur Ros at a donkey ranch in Tijuana?

    Road trip, anyone?!

if I lived in so-cal, I might agree to a road trip. I want to see Sigur Ros that badly, to the point where I would take a road trip around Mexico.

Here's to hoping for some more US dates soon.

I actually came on the message board today with the specific purpose of asking about Sigur Ros. I've heard a lot of hype about them and I may check them out at Bonnaroo. Try as I may, though, I cannot get into them. They are very talented, but I don't find myself wanting to keep listening. Can you guys explain to me why you like them? I'm not trying to be a douche, that's an honest question.

Like I said, they don't suck by any means. I just want to know what about them might creep up on me and make me have that "Holy shit, they are actually GREAT" moment.

Seriously, the need the gut that Iron Maiden grabs a hold of in their music. Maybe if they yowled more and had artwork that made me feel like I was sinning whenever I snuck away from my mom to the record store to buy one of their records.

Haha ok. So I'm going to an Iron Maiden show and I'm now pigeon-holed as just wanting screamy metal? Did you see what show I'm going to on August 27th? Maybe you can label me as only wanting to hear bands that sound like Radiohead. Clearly my music tastes cover the entire spectrum.

Seriously though. What is it that some of you hear that I have yet to hear? Though, I might end up loving them at some point.

I have Hvarf/Heim. I bought it because I enjoyed a couple of songs I heard on their Myspace, they're gonna be at Bonnaroo and I've read really good things about Sigur Ros. Any specific songs I need to check out?

    I'm just cheesin ya.

I think the most accessible album they have is probably "Takk..." I'd give that a couple listens.

Haha, fair enough. Thanks for the feedback. I'll hunt down everyone's suggestions when I get off of work and get back to my place. I have a feeling that I'd have to be an idiot not to check out their set at Bonnaroo. Especially since it might be late night and have an awesome vibe.

It wasn't for me actually. I listened to "Takk..." and only really liked "Hoppípolla" and "Glósóli". When I listened to "( )" though, that's when I really became a fan. So many great songs, "Untitled 3", "Untitled 4" and "Untitled 8" to name a few. Their best well rounded album though, IMO, is Ágætis Byrjun. Brilliant CD. But yeah, TommyboyUNM, I'd suggest checking out "( )" first and then "Ágætis Byrjun" while making your way towards "Von" and "Takk...".

If there are no US dates, then I seriously will consider it. I have yet to see them outside of their 3-song acoustic sets.
