Thread: If that's the real set-times...

Default If that's the real set-times...

I'm probably the happiest person on these boards.

    Friday
Rogue Wave -->Les Savy Fav --> Architecture in Helsinki --> Vampire Weekend --> Tegan and Sara --> The National --> The Raconteurs --> The Swell Season --> The Verve --> Sharon Jones --> Black Lips

    Saturday
The Bird and the Bee --> the Teenagers --> Man Man --> Cold War Kids -->Stephen Malkmus --> Death Cab --> Rilo Kiley --> Kraftwerk --> Portishead --> Prince

    Sunday
Brett Dennen --> Annuals -->Shout Out Louds --> Stars --> Gogol Bordello --> Sean Penn (?) --> My Morning Jacket --> Roger Waters --> Justice

Realized I do have to miss Metric and Spiritualized, but I'd resigned myself to at least one of those already. Otherwise, I'm not missing anyone I care about in any way. This is perfect beyond words.

"If they're the real times", I'm thrilled too. Way fewer conflicts than I imagined would happen and nothing disastrous.

Yeah. I caught that too late. Can't change it.

I'm dancing in my room to vampire weekend, I'm seriously pumped.

Oh, I wasn't correcting you, I'm just trying not to get too excited unless I see them on the coachella site.

These are the worst set times I've ever seen at Coachella. The acts that should be playing early in the day like Akron/Family, Yelle, Islands are all conflicting with Kraftwerk and Portishead's measly 60 minutes. Fucking hell.
9/10 Swans @ Roxy, 9/17 Karen O at Masonic Lodge, 9/19 Tokimonsta @ El Rey, 9/20 Chvrches @ Tower Theatre, 9/30 Cibo Matto @ the Roxy, 10/3-4 Desert Stars, 10/9 Zola Jesus @ El Rey, 10/16 Massive Attack @ Greek Theater, 10/22-25 CMJ, 10/26 Asobi Seksu & Slowdive @ Royale

Maybe that was the point?; makes sure K-Werk and Portishead are the draws at their times, especially since they got demoted from headliner.

I don't understand Black Mountain during Roger Waters...that's going to hurt. Portishead for only an hour saddens me quite a bit too. But altogether, it looks like I'll be able to see most of whom I want to see.

You love to complain more than anything, don't you?

If those were real, that was the most painless schedule ever.

well i guess we'll find out soon whether this is for real or not. i'd have to say i'm about 95% sure though. Perhaps they'll make needed adjustments on the official official schedule that shows up here.

    If they're real??
    I totally think they're real.
Sean Penn is the only thing that makes it look fake.

But.. Battles at 3????? 3??? they should fucking switch with Sharon Jones!
I mean, I'm still seeing them, its all good but....
seriously? Sharon Jones in the Mojave at 9:35 and BATTLES in the GOBI at 3???
    That's my only beef.

    Aside from that, I'm happy.

Dude.. Gnarles Barkley was in the Gobi around 5/6 ...
that's where I saw Sharon Jones.

One of my BIGGEST acts is gonna be the first thing we see..
    just weird.

Friday: Rogue Wave> Redd Kross > Les Savy Fav > Black Kids > Jens Lekman (partial) > Breeders > Vampire Weekend > The National > Aphex Twin > The Verve > Spank Rock > Fatboy Slim (Briefly) > Black Lips > Professor Murder

Saturday: The Bird and the Bee > Little Brother > Man Man > 120 Days > MGMT > Stephen Malkmus > Dwight Yoakam > Death Cab for Cutie > Kraftwerk > Portishead > Prince

Sunday: Annuals > I'm From Barcelona > The Field (maybe the end of Stars) > Autolux > Spiritualized > My Morning Jacket > Love and Rockets > Roger Waters > Justice

No major conflicts. I'll be missing Battles, but I've seen them twice already, and Les Savy Fav at a major festival bears watching, just for the antics that Tim will no doubt unveil.

Oh sure, single me out for saying what is obviously the general consensus, and pointing out the obvious is a bit different from complaining, which is completly warranted in this case, anyway. Most painless schedule ever? Let's see:
The Raconteurs vs Aphex Twin and Goldfrapp
an entirely too short Portishead set vs Yelle (not that any act is even any sort of competition against portishead, so scratch this)
Akron/Family playing during Portiswerk instead of 1 or 2pm
Kraftwerk vs M.I.A. vs. Animal Collective (oh this is going to go over really well. it's not like they have any overlaps in their fanbase)
    Islands vs Rilo Kiley
Roger Waters vs Simian Mobile Disco
Metric vs Spiritualized & Kid Sister
Autolux vs Swervedriver (I'm not really that into either, but I know they should not go against each other and I know a lot of people are mad about this)
    Sia vs Sons & Daughters

The set times I came up with are infinitely better. Hey, I wanted to be happy and excited over set times, but that's just not possible when half my must-sees will be either missed completely or only be seen for 10-20 minutes. The 2006 times were great. The only major sacrifices were Cat Power and Ladytron, and Ladytron gave a disappointing set anyway.

You just like complaining dude. Of course your set times were better. They also didn't account for the factors I am sure GV has to deal with.

Also, I meant it was painless for me.

What, the majority of the people on these boards have at least one or two conflicts? Say it ain't so!! That's never, ever happened before!!

It's a fucking awesome lineup. Definitely my easiest in 4 years.

And you just like being an asshole and a brown-noser.

Oh, and while I don't care about either act, having the only two subheadliners on Sunday playing against each other is mindboggling. I thought that only happened at ACL and Lollapalooza.

Oh well, whatever. At least it won't be too crowded.

I completely agree, what the fuck is with MMJ and L&R are the same time?!?!?!
For the most part, I love this this schedule but the one day when there are NO bands playing, they still manage to fuck that one up!

I have to agree with Boourns on this. This year has tons of conflicts for me,some of which don't make sense. I'm sure for other people too.

Yeah, there are always going to be conflicts, but MMJ vs L&R, Islands vs Rilo Kiley, MIA vs Animal Collective vs Kraftwerk are all very ACL. Bjork vs Gogol Bordello sucked, but at least it was understandable.
