Jack White was in the right place at the right time, during the lowest point in recent memory for popular music. He's a solid musician, but his importance and/or greatness was magnified because he was a lone diamond in a giant sea of diarrhea.

Prince is a far better guitar player, has written far better songs, and would be the star he is regardless of the era of music that he gained his popularity during.
