holy hell last night was hilarious. Well worth the 25 bucks.

They had a ton of great guests, the sit on you guy, the do da do "think about your dad" guy killed it. Very funny show, I even got a horrible Beaver Boys t shirt I love.

They showed a bunch of clips from season 3 as well which were all hilarious.

Being on the lookout for "rent a kid clown" when season 3 premiers in July.

oh and their Dj that opened the show was awesome. The NPR remix was the shit

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed. I didn't know what to expect but I was surprised by how much plot there was.

I worry that this is going to be Tim and Eric, but with unnecessary shock humor and gross humor. I mean, I know that's part of the show, but I wouldn't say it is what makes the show hilarious. Why don't you guys (who have seen it) like it?

For me, I think it is mostly the songs, the random characters (like Spaghett and Tierry Green), the "regular" people, and the cheesy visual and sound effects. Even the gross/shock humor (like violence) is alright sometimes, but I tend to not find perverted jokes very funny, because I think they're kind of cheap/easy, and I'm afraid that since they can get away with more stuff in the movie, it's just going to be a lot of that.

EDIT: I should also specify that I think What's Your Dad Like? to be a good, subtle perversion, which I would encourage. Here is a kind of perversion that I go "meh..." to:

I like them because nothing's ever simple or straightforward. Things always go to weird uncomfortable places, whether it be editing, storyline, costume, or even what the people are eating. They come up with fantastic names and really odd scenarios. I also love the way they get more well known comics to work outside of their comfort zone at times.

Like I said, I didn't really know what to expect and I guess I can't explain how I would've liked them to do it. Maybe a movie is just the wrong format for them. Because I could easily imagine that a movie that was just a 2 hour episode of the show might get old, and what would be the point of making it? But I think there's probably some middle ground where they could have worked in a lot of the weird, extended moments they have in the show while still having some over-arching theme or story. The story got in the way a lot, I think, and it was a pretty standard story. There were never moments in the movie like there are in the show, where I just thought "what the heck am I watching right now?" Even stuff like the low budget commercials were kind of ruined for me because there was a backstory supporting them or they were used to drive the plot. And yeah, there was a lot of gross stuff just for the sake of being gross.
