Thread: The Official Motorcycle Rider/Enthusiast Thread

after a lot of research I'm leaning Yamaha WR250R as my first dual with maybe a KTM in the future after that. Skinny, fast, and loose. It's not a looker like a KLR, but it is more suited for what I want to do (desert sand/mud, tight spaces, forests, country backroads, no highways). Just like hittin Stoddard Wells or Hungry Valley, Hells Kitchen off Ortega, PCH rides. The White Rim Trail in Utah is a goal as well.

Here's my ride, '03 GSX-R600. Been riding for about 9 months now.

Here's a pic of my cousin transporting our slurpees on his '10 CBR1000RR.

My bro convinced me to sign up for a motorcycle class.
I'm pretty nervous about it. More nervous because I don't know how to drive manual.
    Any tips would be great.

I think it's a lot easier to learn to use a clutch with your hand than your foot, and you'll get the hang of gear shifting pretty quickly. You don't have to move your hands or feet to a different location like in a car.

Nice man, not a bad choice at all for what you want to do. Sounds like a perfect match. Keep us updated with your choices! If you want hardcore travel in trails and barely any highway and also a daily commuter, the KLX650 is the KLR's brother but more versatile and rugged.

@Robin, basically what Stickjohn said! It's a lot easier with the hand.

yeah, I went to Champion in Newport couple days ago and got approved for financing, but Yahama is 6.9% for five years and the payment is $162 (without any negotiating, yet). So not sure if I'm going to commit to that and looking into other options including these below.

Checking out/Test driving this tonight: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123

This possibly over the weekend: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/mcy/2860120244.html

Even though they depreciate heavily, I tend to only buy new cars cus of the "if someone is gonna fuck em up, it's gonna be me"-type philosophy. But may just pay cash and do one of these instead. We'll see.

My little brother is in the Marines, so when he was deployed let me ride his GXR 600. Well after six years! I put his bike in the garage at my moms house and got me an Yamaha R1

So here the bike coming off the truck from the dealership, parked at work and Sunday fun on HWY 94

I just watched Wild Hogs. I think it's safe to say that I'm now an expert on all things motorcycle.

pretty shite, huh? Unknowingly at the time drove through the town (Madrid...did The Turquoise Trail over New Year’s) they filmed it in and the locals appeared on-the-surface to be distrusting ganj growers. Like Eureka. Hairy white people.

ended up getting a 1999 Yamaha WR400 street legal with desert tank and ESP Suspension (whatever that is) for $2200 and going to try her out for the first time on sand at Stoddard next weekend. Run over some snakes. Some Slash X drinking.

Did about ninety miles round trip from my house Santiago Canyon road a few weeks ago to Cook's Corner Bar. Biker girls wearing their boyfriend's name on their jacket ("Property of Buzzard"). An older lady dancing away, with the apropos "The Dancer" patch sewed on, to a Classic Rock cover band. The Vagos were there.

Here's a pic of my 2010 Triumph Speed Triple

Here's me going into a corner, praying I don't drop it

Here's my big gal, a 1999 Honda Valkyrie (in slightly happier times- my friend dropped later the same day this pic was taken... but she's ok now)

Pretty Triumph. Is that the Special Edition model or did you do the wheels? The hoses look sharp too.

Brother pics after going for his "dream hill" this morning. Hit a rock on ascension, which turned into an uncontrollable wheelie and massive eatshitathon. I was smoking out and sunbathing in the pickup truck bed healing the prior two days of wounds when he finally showed at camp pissed off cus I was supposed to look for him if he "wasn't back in an hour". Time tracking on marijuana can be a challenge. He's aight though. Bike on the other hand...

FYI - next weekend is the last for Slash X's season. It was dead on Sunday afternoon anyway. No beaver, hard throbbing biker cock, or much life at all. Good chili fries though.

It's the John Bloor edition, so wheels came that way. Heck, it even came with a snazzy watch! I still got that thing around here somewhere. The hoses are Samcos. I got those through a friend but they can be found on Ebay. I am running straight distilled water with water wetter added. Coolest I have seen a Triple run (this is my second S3).

He got some prescription pills and took a couple days off work and I'm sure the talk of "never riding again" will subside.

Think we'll go to the forest next time. Perfectly safe out there. Or so the sales pitch will indicate.
