Are you kiddin....Next year is going to be fucking insane...Ill call it right now. You think this year was an emotional roller coaster, next years the anniversary...you know 10 YEARS!!!!!!!
yep 10 years next year...its gonna be insane for sure.
"There's a shadow just behind me,shrouding every breath I take, making every promise empty, pointing every finger at me."
yeah last year on kroq pt said the line up was set and not expect any big additions...this year he gave us little (well big) tricks.
we have been totally spoiled this year.
next year they will have to deliberately withold certain names from the lineup for periods of time, and it will become like all the other festivals promisings us "20-30 more bands" from day one. blah.
Costa Mesa is ok. I have to go back to work on Monday, so I'm not missing it at all.
Anywho . . .
Why can't people just be happy? Now, that we've gotten one of the biggest adds ever people are still hoping to fill the "gap." Isn't it getting a little ridiculous? Coachella is Coachella. I have no expectations, because I know it will be great. I've already reserved my place for next year.
you guys should of been here in 06...it was horrible...first people whined and complained about a lackluster lineup, the BAM, Daft Punk was added. People went crazy, then started bitching again. Then, BAM, Massive Attack were added, and people went crazy, then started crying again, then BAM, Madonna was added, and some folks went crazy and others still cried. It's like this every year. It's a cycle that is rinsed and repeated EVERY year. Never gonna change.
^ indeed
I have a feeling there are going to be some unmet expectations with the 10 year anniversary of Coachella.
For your health
last year, they were able to hit us with rage from day one... first show in 8 years etc... What could add to that?
This year, APW and Lolla got the "headliner of the year", the band that was gonna do a festival(s), the only question was which.
Coachella was left to twist in the wind a bit, and had to go crazy with the money to get something to "add". My guess is that all this was known last december, in the right circles anyway, and was simply managed in such a way that anyone who goes to cocahella NO MATTER WAHT got nicely rewarded, with a crack at the train, presale tickets, the new camping options etc... the whole purpose is to train people to buy in a blind presale every year, and get SO GOOD, with such a rep, that it sells out glasto style.... (until GV ruins it all and put up Jay-z ;-)
MUAH!
Actually I remember that...I never really posted until last year but I was always a lurker form 2005 on...All I can say was even in 2006, I was happy before the Massive Attack, Daft Punk and Madonna adds..Just because of Sigur Ros, Tool, Depeche Mode and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs...this year was the 1st year that I was underwhelmed by the initial line up...but after the Aphex add I pretty much shut up...
can we really consider it 10 years if it skipped a year?
'09 will be the 10th year. Count 'em.
Same here. 2006 was ridiculously wonderful. The poster delay stressed a lot of us out, but I was content with the initial lineup. Before the additions there were legitimate concerns like the absence of big name dance tent headliners (and we ended up getting the two biggest ones yet, so big that they made a new Sahara tent) and "wtf? Bloc Party is on the second line?" but it was mainly hipsters crying over their hatred of Tool and Depeche Mode, or Radiohead fans going to Bonnaroo to see Radiohead and the previous years Coachella acts.

well we could just suck it up and stop being whiny fucking bitches...?
i mean that would solve the problem i reckon.
but we all know thats never going to happen. music snobs are required to be whiny bitches it seems.
2009 is ten years not counting the year 2000
like glasontbury? yeah that grass needs to mend.
yeah what she said... still I dont expect anything "special" happening since every year something special happens.
I felt 2007 was lacking in major dance names.
well the ten year thing will be important to me because i am going come hell or high water ....... so you kids have a great time this year, but next year we are gonna tear it up ... that is kinda a stupid statement considering this year has even happened .... x****

I will hold you to this Ron. If you flake out, you owe all of us a beer and joint. Damn you Ron, I was really looking forward to meeting you in person this year. I keep holding out hope, but your words imply that there is no such thing.
Now . . . adding Ron would be the ultimate late add.
