We need to organize a basketball team good enough to challenge Prince and his band. Who's in!?![]()
Anyone else think the reason all these Prince threads are being locked/deleted is because he threatened to sue due to copyright infringement of his name. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Kidding... kidding...
I want to see Sharon Jones join Prince on stage and fill in for Rosie Gaines on "Nothing Compares 2 U."
"Yes, I am indeed beautiful! Sometimes I sit and wonder, in my artless Japanese way, why it is that I am so much more attractive than anybody else in the whole world. Can this be vanity? No! Nature is lovely and rejoices in her loveliness. I am a child of Nature, and take after my mother."
Hmmm. Prince. I dont get it. im not hating. I just dont get it. maybe if he hugs everyone upon entry. Ok not everyone but. I just dont get it. But then again I don't get sex either. eh. hmm what a minute whats his real name?
I like reading the replies on the prince.org message board about just watching his performance on the webcast as opposed to buying tickets. They will be in for sad day...

Recent review of Prince concert couple days ago
Prince Funks Up L.A. at Uber-Exclusive Concert.
Shortly before 12:30, Prince & his band, Josh & C.C. Dunham and Morris Hayes kicked off the jazz set with “Chameleon” by Herbie Hancock. Next follows “Stratus” by Billy Cobham. It was a slowed down version and the way it was played left the crowd stunned. Prince then launched into “A Case Of You” by Joni Mitchell, a funky keyboard instumental. That followed with “What Is Hip?” by Tower of Power.
So much for a jazz show as “Everyday People” along with other Sly & The Family Stone songs including “Sing A Simple Song” into “Thank You…”were played with vocals. Prince then went into “All The Critics Love U In L.A.” which was very heavy on guitar, and then went into “Satisfied”/”Cock-Eyed Woman”. Prince took the crowd back as he ripped into “Controversy”. His female vocalist Shelby J. sang “Baby Love” while in the crowd and then sang “Angel” by Sarah Mclachlan. That’s a surprise!
Prince then continued the funk-filled onslaught with one of the funkiest versions of “Alphabet St.” with full vocals. The master of events then went into “Cream”, which was quite the crowd pleaser. That followed by “U Got The Look” and then a guitar-driven “Honky Tonk Woman” with Shelby J. again leading on vocals.
He followed that with “1999″ as the energy in the place took off yet even higher. Prince then just started throwing out songs while the band jammed; “Le Freak” by Chic, a tease of “Foxy Lady” by Jimi Hendrix, then which lead into “Peach”! Prince was getting everyone to jump up and down on this one, including himself. Prince then pulled out the classic “Purple Rain” on the keys with the band backing him. Then he switched to guitar. Unbelievable. The crowd was left speechless and could only raise their hands n bob their heads.
What a night. As the stars try to leave outside shortly after 2:30 A.M. , the paparazzi attack. Stars who attended the concert were Adrian Grenier, Bill Mahr, Melanie Griffith, Tara Reid and others of young hollywood. What a night in the city of angels. Thanks to one of Dr. Funkenberry’s patients for helping out.-Dr.FB
one of the stipulations gv agreed too with Prince is that they need to pass out watchtower magazines when you enter

]sitting through a Jack Johnson headliner with special guests counting crows, ben harper, and dave matthews with a midget sitting on my lap ....a retarded midget with drool driping down my leg as he claps to the curious george song as i hold his lolly pop, while MIA's dj blasts horn noises in my right ear while staring at a 3rd addition of the tesla coils while the group of guys with g strings fart in my left ear > Kanye West
"It's in the K" - Martha Stewart
Since the show list is very minimal...
August 29 // Chemical Brothers w/ Chromeo & Yacht @ Hollywood Bowl
September 26 // Vampire Weekend w/ Beach House & the Very Best @ Hollywood Bowl
October 5 // ARCADE FIRE @ Henry Miller Library
October 13 // Corin Tucker Band @ The El Rey
(someone should give me Sufjan Stevens tickets, aint got none of those)
I've re-listening to my Prince albums. So many songs I previously either skipped over or just forget to listen to it and it got mixed in the shuffle.
Diamons and Pearls is a better album than I originally thought. "Insatiable" is another amazing slow jam. Dirty Mind is still my favorite album

I can sleep in till noon anytime I want
Though there's not many days that I do
Gotta get up and take on that world
When your an adult it's no cliche it's the truth
I've just been listening to "Come" another Prince album I owned, never gave much listen to.
And it's amazing. Seriously check it out. Vastly under appreciated.
Papa, Dark, Come, Pheromone, space all great songs

watching purple rain right now, they have it on view instantly on netflix. sorry for thinking beyond the festival but I cant wait for the week following coachella. Watching all the youtube vids and especially the prince coachella 2008 vids and knowing I was there! THE BEAUTIFUL ONES!
The Beautiful Ones is an absolute must.
The White Stripes 9/18
Like after Love Symbol (which is def worth it)? I'd go with The Gold Experience, Emancipation and 3121.
There are also a ton of great live stuff (new and old) released after 1992. One Night Alone... The Aftershow: It Ain't Over is pretty fucking awesome (most amazing version of Joy in Repetition ever). Also, last year a soundboard recording of "The Birthday Show" in Mpls, MN 1984 surfaced. So amazing.
I love all Prince though. Even an album like Goldnigga(1993) makes me so happy. Mixture of Parliament and gangsta-rap.
5/12 - Acid Mothers Temple - Casbah
5/13 OoOoOo - Soda Bar
5/19 Black Angels / Hanni El Khatib - Belly Up
5/29 Junip - Troubadour
5/30 John Talabot - Echoplex
6/2 Bjork - Hollywood Palladium
yes to all of the above
plus The Black Album
and there were at least 5 or 6 great tracks on Lotusflow3r/MPLSound ( which i think is still $4.00 at Target)
check out this song from Gold Experience when Prince still cussed

ehh The Black Albums is tricky I wouldn't consider it post 1992. Even tho it was released in 1994 it was recorded on 86-87... great album tho
Crystal Ball, which is a 3-disc collection of outtakes (plus a bonus disc of acoustic music), is great.
And I like a lot of Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic - The Greatest Romance Ever Sold, Man O'War, Baby Knows, and there's a crazy (and funny) bonus track called 'Mr. Pretty Man' which features Maceo Parker.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.
