Thread: Parking?

  1. #1

    Default Parking?

Hey I'm looking to buy a parking pass but it says it's free on the site.

Anyone know if that is true this year because last year I know it wasn't.

    Thanks.

It was free last year, and I'm pretty sure before that too.

I just want the cops to direct traffic instead of standing around with thumbs in their asses like they don't know what they're supposed to be doing. 3 to 4 hrs of waiting to leave ridiculous! Even 1-2 hrs is ridiculous. I'd pay $20 to leave the parking lot in a timely manner.

Can we go back and forth to our car from the festival? They said no ins and outs on the site which is extreme for a 12 hour time period but does that include the parking lot?

Its not nearly as bad as you think since Coachella's grounds are so vast. It is like being in a giant national park. You really have no need to go back to your car for any purpose. Plus you wouldn't want to drive out (to grab a snack or something) and back since it can take like 2-3 hours from the time you enter the perimeter of Coachella to the time you creep forward in the huge line of cars waiting to get into a parking spot.

Well, last year, as I crept forward in the ridiculously long line of cars, one of the staff people who were guiding cars offered me a "VIP" spot in one of the closest lots if I was willing to pay him $20. I got the feeling this was not official and he pocketed it, but it seriously saved me like a 2 hour wait to get into a regular parking spot as it was already mid-afternoon and all the close-by lots were way full. I would have had to park in one of the lots that's like a mile away and walk all the way in. $20 was totally worth it to walk only like 10 minutes to the entrance.

haHAha you know the farther you walk and park from the entrance the CLOSER you are to the exit at the end of the night... i usually park in the southeasternmost lot (it's dirt and behind the grass one with the mystery tent on it) i was upset the first time i was DIRECTED to park in this lot but at the end of the night i was SOOO happy...

yes!! as a camper you get access to a lot that is close to the camp site and entrance. you cant leave after the show until later though but every morning you have access to this lot as much as you want until 11 am when they begin allowing all concert goers to park. once its 11 its first come first serve for all lots.
so wake early shower before its busy leave the grounds enjoy breakfest and coffee in town at a nice a/c location and return at around 10:45.
if you park in the back or way out of sight in this lot your stall will still be open when you return to the lot most likeley becuase people always want the closest stalls.

This will be my first year camping on site. Is there a different entrance for the camping parking lot?

Sort of. If you arrive before 10am then you can park in the lot that is closest to the camping. After 10am you may have to park further away. It really depends on security and if they have their shit together.
