Default Jack Johson and "bro" ... explain

I don't like Jack Johnson - he's repetitive and about has the depth of a puddle in my driveway.

But I don't get all the jokes about his music being "bro" music. Somebody...explain the "bro" factor of Jack Johnson, and the negative connotation to the word "bro."

It's the fratboy surfer fanbase. Apparently they all talk like that. Everyone is a bro or sometimes pronounced 'bra' or 'bruh' depending on accent and part of the country.

It's fun to watch a bunch of liberal hipster music fans display their prejudices and justify it because of bad musical taste.

come to newport and huntington, bro central...the stereotypical bro here is easy to spot by his raised pickup, backwards hat, and black flys sunglasses.

Yeah, I've never understood the connection between bro's and JJ that this board always talks about. A bro to me is those listening to Kottonmouth Kings and shit like that. Wouldn't really expect any of them to like JJ.

It's probably just because I would never GO anywhere that would have a "brah" there, but every JJ fan I know is a 30-40 something- mostly women, usually with a high stress job who think that listening to boring tunes will somehow help them relax.

LOL yes!! And where I'm at (Covina) there's a lot since Azusa Canyons are nearby and they go off roading in their lifted trucks and what not.

Me and my friend always say "whoa brooo" when a lifted truck speeds by us.

I live near Pismo Beach which is the weekend getaway for bros in the valley. The city becomes consumed with lifted trucks and shitty music. As well as the occasional screaming at pedestrians and disposing their energy drink & Bud Light cans all over the place.

I think it applies to those that felt they had to fit into a certain "cool" group in high school (which most people grow out of after) and still feel that way even though they have been out of high school for some time now.

In Hawaii, where JJ is from, its "Brah." Most other places on the mainland its "Bro," but in Huntington Beach it could be "Brah" too.

JJ is a cool, mellow, island-style kinda guy. I don't get into his music, but I have nothing personal against him. Is he headliner material? Nope, not in my opinion. I still scratch my head over that one. Yet I see him headlining other festivals as well. There's so much I just don't get. For example Dane Cook. Explain that one to me.

I still think this is all a joke and Paul T. is going to announce the "real" headliner for Friday any day now. Anyway, I figure that's the real reason everyone here pisses on JJ.

Straight up. I just moved here six months ago, and those fuckers are everywhere. Everywhere I go I see some jerk-off in a straight-billed SRH hat, Spy sunglasses, with tall black socks and white skate shoes.

I wasn't aware they were called "bros" until recently, I always just called them tools.

i'm from the valley, Fresno to be exact, where many of the bros reside. and yes, many of the bros travel to pismo EVERY weekend with their lifted trucked and energy drinks and head to the dunes. i get invited sometimes by friends who are semi-bros, but i always refuse. that place is bro central, i think my head would explode.

You know you're one of my top bros, bro, because you got my back. And I got yours. You're my bro. But you went above and beyond the other night, bromaldehyde. You really did. Saving me that seat at the Velvet Revolver show, even though all those other bros were trying to get up front, bro? So clutch.
