Yeah I heard him announced for a pre-line up at Bonnaroo.. so why he wouldn't play California a few months before is beyond me.. it would be wiiiicked if he got announced.

...he lives in sonoma county, up here in northern california. I saw him in whole foods last month (talk about surreal).

anyhow...Waits would have been one of the last great original headlining strategies for Goldenvoice to come up with...preface his set with Portishead or Mars Volta, PJ Harvey, Ween...maybe Primus. all a good non-recycled match.

of course, Waits played all of one U.S. show (the Paramount in Seattle) on that last album and I think he generally works on his own schedule....

bring it on! apparently one critic described his voice "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months and then taken outside and run over with a car." awesome.

There is nothing disagreeable about "Chocolate Jesus" although I understand how some of his more experimental musings may act as a repellent. However, if Waits played Coachella, he would be the most interesting act on the lineup.

it's just a dream that he'll hit coachella. although, one never knows. i caught his show in chicago over the summmer. also, i saw him on the mule variation tour. nobody comes close to his live show. he sets the standard for a great show. let's dream.
