Good question. You get your ears molded and have them made custom to your ears. They run a pretty penny (I paid around $200), but they're worth it to those that need them. They have fancy filters than can be changed out, -9dB -15dB and -30dB depending on the environment you'll be in.

Packing up tonight? Might be a good idea to check the list.

    How important is a watch?

I was hoping to enter radio silence with my cell as soon as the tent is setup and then just leave it in the car for the weekend. Are there any clocks around the venue, or do you need to carry your own?

I would advise you to bring a watch, but certain stages have clocks on them, if you look for them. I got around without a watch one year, but I ended up missing a couple things, and showing up at the wrong stage once or twice (which is nothing new, really). You're in for more of an adventure without a watch!

Hi new to this. Can anyone tell me how much alcohol we can bring in and grills are okay, right as long as propane size doesn't matter?

I'd also suggest ear plugs. Not only good for protecting your hearing at the really loud shows, but great for when you want to sleep while others are partying around you.

Got back home from my first Coachella Monday morning, and I can now say first hand that these things saved my life this weekend:

    essentials.jpg

Personal wipes, toilet paper, anti-bacterial gel --- always, always have these with me
Spray sunblock (feels really good in the desert heat!), lip balm with SPF
Eye drops (even DH who doesn't wear contact lenses needed them this weekend)
Small towel (dipped in water and put on my head/neck during the hottest parts of the day. Covered my nose & mouth during the crazy wind/sand storm later in the day)
Water!!! --- drink while walking to the festival & waiting in line to get in, refill right away after entrance. Drink some more. Repeat.

Thank you soo much for the list, OP!

I didn't have a watch this year and was really hating it. I won't forget next time.

Where they taking metal stakes weekend 1? Mine are packed up in the middle of my tent bag and they would have to take everything out of the tightly packed bag to find them. Would they unpack it?

If you're not an asshole and you play it cool, you could probably get away with it. Might want to pack some plastic stakes just in case, 'cause it's not like they'll supply you with them if your metal ones get confiscated.

This thing was a life saver. $11 at REI

Beat the heat with a cooling tie! This lightweight scarf is filled with polymer crystals that slowly release water in a cooling action.
•Soak tie in water and the crystals hydrate, then wrap around your neck and feel the evaporative cooling action--works from hours to several days
•Evaporative action can cool blood flow to the brain, reducing heart rate and blood pressure
•Great for most activities, Kool Tie® is soft, comfortable and easy to wear
•Colorful print patterns add fun and flare to your outdoor adventure

Yup! Also great for unloading and transporting from the companion lot or the Ralph's shuttle.

Fill it with ice and beer on Thursday and pull it around the campgrounds. People will get a kick out of it, friends will be made, and cold beer all day. Good times..

Only thing is they are surprisingly expensive, building your own or craigslist is the way to go.

Easier to find and probably just as useful might be a rolling cooler (like THIS). We have one we bring sometimes. Good for rolling ice (while keeping it cold). Also good for filling with water for bath water if needed. Also useful outside of Coachella.

$37.99 with Amazon Prime for that cooler is an excellent deal, I must say.
