I'm at "All Time Low" right now, too, and I'm VERY pleased. Absolutely love the production so far. This is kind of the Pretty Hate Machine era Nine Inch Nails with which I grew up.

I can't agree more. I am going to delete it off my iPod and pretend it never exsisted while playing the fuck out of the album for the next few days

I'll trade you a record player and a bunch of new wave vinyl for The Fragile.

    ITT Amy is queen bee

2/3 through and I think it's outstanding so far. All the songs have something going on that impresses (except 'Everything').

I'm really loving this album as well. It's very different from the last few and it has a lot of variation. Everything is a bit out of place but I don't mind it. I can't say his lyrics on this album are his best but it almost doesn't matter because the music is so good.
Did anyone else think that the bonus remixes were pretty crappy?
    Oh look it stopped snowing...

I think "While I'm Still Here" remixed by Breyer P. Oridge 'howler' remix is better than the regular version. It's darker, eerie and creepy.

As far as song writing goes, that's been considered Trent's weakness for quite some time. Again, his song writing has never bothered me. I like it.

Then again I don't think the song Everything is as terrible as most people here do.

You can get Broken with the mini disc for $39.99 buy-it-now on ebay right now. And $150 is actually really low for the The Fragile vinyl

Yes, it was an official release, and even included 2 exclusive tracks, "10 Miles High" and "The New Flesh" (that later were available on some singles). There was also a cassette version that also had an exclusive song, "+appendage."

What i didn't know until just reminding myself was this,

"The Day the World Went Away", "The Wretched", "Even Deeper" and "La Mer" are all extended mixes, while the opening and closing of each side eliminates the crossfading between songs found on the CD and cassette versions, due to the nature of the vinyl medium. Finally, "Ripe" was shortened by removing the conclusive "(With Decay)" portion of the song.
But it's definitely worth noting that even with all the fighting with labels that trent had, he did always really fight hard to have as much control over his releases as possible. A huge part of that for him is sequencing, and splitting that thing over 6 sides definitely had a lot to do with necessitating extended/shortened versions of songs.

That was a longer post about that than I intended, so I'll make this a separate post.

I have really been able to listen to and digest Hesitation Marks and man is this a good record. As others have said, the production is incredible, and it's refreshing how much he's varying things up stylistically compared to The Slip and Year Zero, but still making everything fairly cohesive.

I still like (don't love) "Everything," but I do think it really stands out and sounds weird in this record. I still think "Find My Way" sounds like a HTDA throwaway and really, it's the worst song on the album. It's not terrible, but right up at the top of the album it really throws the breaks on, and it's just not that interesting of a song. I think "Copy of A" and "Came Back Haunted" sound terrific back to back, and it's a great way to end the album. "All Time Low" is huge and fits really nicely right in the middle. 'Satellite"/"Various Methods of Escape"/"Running" is my favorite part of the album for now - probably the 3 most interesting sounding songs back to back to back, and by that time the whole thing really reaches a fever pitch. Can't wait to listen to this over and over again and full digest every single song. Even the low points are good.

Also, I think all 3 remixes are really good and do super interesting things with the songs.

So this might end up being completely irrelevant, but Zia Records has been teasing a big in-store announcement for Wednesday. They posted this teaser yesterday:

Zia has a BIG in-store in the works. Stand by for a very special announcement on Wednesday, and leave your guesses as to who's going to pop into Zia here in the comments.
Then today they posted the following teaser along with a picture of a church:

TOMORROW: Zia Records is going to announce an in-store that we're SO pumped about. We can't say peep yet, but we're getting "closer" to spilling the beans.
And when someone posted a sarcastic comment on the post about Trent Reznor not making good music anymore, Zia replied with, "We will save you a place in line." So, if it does end up being Trent, which city does he show up in; Phoenix, Tucson or Las Vegas?

It feels organic, and it feels good not to be worrying about whether or not we shipped vinyl to the cool record store in Prague.
