AMAZING I got a regular Totoro (the pinkish one in english) and I am just giddy whenever I look at the jpg that I scored one. Moss nailed is as usual. I'm excited to see what's next, but I don't know if this will be topped for me.

I made it through track 25 in one sitting. Wanted to go in one sitting the first time but it was too much with it being windy outside and staying up writing a paper on inner city violence.

Since announcing a Nine Inch Nails hiatus in 2009, Trent Reznor's dedicated himself to film projects (the Golden Globe-nominated score for David Fincher's adaption of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the Globe- and Oscar-winning score for Fincher's The Social Network) and a band with his wife, singer Mariqueen Maandig, and Atticus Ross called How to Destroy Angels. But he tells Billboard that he's considering getting back on track with Nine Inch Nails in 2012.
From the interview:

"I'm going to be writing for Nine Inch Nails this year... [I don't] have any particular goal in mind other than... my voice as a songwriter feels like it needs to speak up or at least work out a little bit to not atrophy. I think I have something to say that feels unique to who I am right now, and that's when it tells me it's time to do something... I enjoy the challenge of moving that kind of brand forward, that identity, shaping it to who I am now instead of who I was a few years ago when I last left off... It's all kind of hypothetical right now. When I sit down with a notebook and a little mini-recorder is when my bluff will be called, and then it might not happen at all."

Today in things you never thought you'd see: Footage of Nine Inch Nails performing on the cheesy late-1980s/early-1990s live dance program "Dance Party USA" (think: Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt in Girls Just Want to Have Fun). They perform their debut single "Down In It". And it is the best thing you will watch all week.

It was pretty cool. Annie Clark was couple rows in front of us. Trent pretty much dominated the conversation as you would expect, although it was mainly billed a David Byrne thing for his book release. Trent's rants are always entertaining to listen to. They talked for like an hour about music marketing, distribution, etc. Why the Radiohead pay what you want model was fucked, why he went w/ major label w/ How to Destroy, etc. It was essentially like a music marketing class. Then they opened it up to the audience for 20 min Q&A. The talk had a real interesting opening band...String Theory. Trio of musicians that included some crazy harp instrument I never seen that extended into the balcony. That was a nice lil surprise.
