I think it's a little lame that all the headliners (and a lot of other bands as well) have already played Coachella. Does anyone agree we need some new acts?

like who?
That's for you to decide. I'm just saying.
Awesome I want pavarotti.
i agree, but fortunate for me who only attended just last year, it's new to me! Next year I would like Pearl Jam and Paul McCartney.
Well, this has come up many times before, the fact is, there aren't that many TRUE headliners left for Coachella, that could both draw the crowds GV wants and appease the Coachella die hards.
The big one on this short list (for me) is DAVID BOWIE, he would make a stellar headliner. Let's see who else? R.E.M. are always thrown in, I'm so-so on the idea, but you can't argue with a band of that status. They have been very important to the history of alternative (college) rock. Other names thrown out, in the past have been: PRINCE, BOB DYLAN, PEARL JAM, THE POLICE (that still might happen this year, or next, who knows) SMASHING PUMPKINS (only if all of them decide to do it I think), U2 (that is unlikely as say, The Smiths), and until Joe died, THE CLASH.
I think most people agree on The Chili Peppers being a poor choice, mainly because they just headlined Lolla and a few other festivals in the past year or two. Plus they have toured out the ass for both Cali and Stadium, and no matter what Rolling Stone may say, that double record is OK at best. Their music and recent live setlist has been "uninspiring" to say the least. They are a better fit for the Grammys than Coachella.
Rage, a good choice, simply because of all the interest involved, they are great live, so that is driving the sales on Sunday.
Bjork, I think this is another good choice despite the fact she has already been there. Her infrequent shows, always make her appearances special. But let us hope, its two and out.

Bob Dylan, hmmm maybe not headlining but it'd be cool to see Dinosaur Jr.
Bowie would be cool.
I think R.E.M. & Pearl Jam are the last two uber 'indie' groups that haven't played Coachella. I've seen R.E.M. live but not Pearl Jam (no excuses, I've had my chances ... grrr) Both would be great.
Pearl Jam would be even cooler. I LOVE THE LINEUP.

I'm content with this year's headliners (I haven't seen the RHCP in years, so I am alright with them playing); but I would have been a lot more excited if they would have got the Police for day 1 or 2. Smashing Pumpkins or Pearl Jam would have been nice also.
Melanie Safka, probably one of the most prolific songwriters in history, and one of very few Woodstock performers left.
rage reunion is all good, rhcp and bjork i can see the argument but it wil still be great

Bowie does not end his sets with All the Young Dudes. Keep being wrong, maybe an illegal Mexican family will take you in when you're working below minimum wage tabulating the thread count on my new $300 sheets for the fold out couch in the poolhouse. I sleep on dead bodies stuffed with silk.
A bowie handjob would be cool.
David Bowie is seriously overdue, and this was the perfect time for that Smashing Pumpkins reunion. Maybe we'll get the latter next year after they've already played every inferior festival. Like that German nu-metal shit fest, seriously, what the hell? I'd also really like to see R.E.M. or U2.
Bowie did write "All the young dudes" after all, so i'm sure he can sing it if he so wishes.
A Talking Heads reunion would be good for me! (even tho they don't get on - apart from the two that are married, who probably do)
I just hope RHCP forget EVERYTHING off Stadium Arcadium and By The Way for this show. I used to love them, but now they're dire.
What about Peter Gabriel? He still tours on occasion, historically vital to the Coachella audience, and does a great show.
THE LAST 2 BOWIE CONCERTS (Reality Tour), THAT I WENT TO, HE ENDED WITH THAT SONG. he opened with Rebel Rebel, with just a single white spot on him from behind and closed with the house lights up and everyone singing Dudes - I actually wrote about it in a review.
So, keep being a douche, or just look the setlists up, and shut up. Concerts were in NYC and Columbus, Ohio.
You have been served.

Personally, I would hated it if U2 ever decided to headline. Not that I hate U2, but the festival would sell out in -2 seconds and it would be nothing but U2 fans..Remember how snotty Tool and Madonna fans were? It would probably be worst then that..Might as well call it U2 presents Coachella instead of the Coachella Festival....still love U2 though...
