Thread: a thought about kraftwerk and (almost) pink floyd....

  1. #1

Default a thought about kraftwerk and (almost) pink floyd....

considering how much influence both these artists have had on modern music, am i the only one that finds it fascinating that they are both (well, close to) playing coachella this year??? cant help but think that people that complain about the lineup this year don't know jack shit about music whatsoever....

on a side note does anyone know if kraftwerk and the full classic pink floyd lineup ever played a show together??? if they did, it must have been outrageous....

    cant wait.

Bad booking? I guess you haven't compared Coachela to other music festivals, the lineup is incredible, stop bitching, this is not wonderland, on the Real World only so much is possible, wake up!!

    yeah seriously

my friends are trying to go to sasquatch or some shit and that lineup looks so fucking boring and predictable. i mean the variety at coachella is better than any festival i've seen, seriously, someone point me to another festival with such a diverse lineup if you can.

Honestly, I think each person's reactions to the lineup (in my personal life, more than on the board) are a perfect guage of whether or not they suck.

The lineup this year is gold
Recent studies at Yale have shown that being an asshole is detrimental to one's health. Professor Sweetlove, a Psychology professor, came on record as saying:
"Assholes and local desert rats tend to live shorter lives and have less consensual sexual relations than non assholes. It could be due to lower testoserone levels or a chemical imbalance in the brain but some people are just wired to be.... well.... assholes"

after looking at previous years this year promises so many special moments!!! the line up has so much to offer ive discovered so many new bands to check out, we dont ever get oppurtunities where im from for access to so much diverse possibilities!! plus the new art and do lab stuff is supposed to be off the hook as well!!!

I don't think people would bitch as much about the line up if Jack Johnson was out. But I think JJ is as crappy as RATM and RHCP. With Kraftwerk,Portishead,Aphex Twin,Verve,Carbon Silicon,Goldfrapp,The Field,Bookashade,Modeselektor,Love and Rockets just to name a few is shaping pretty sweet

""Honestly, I think each person's reactions to the lineup (in my personal life, more than on the board) are a perfect guage of whether or not they suck""

What a leap....Person reaction to coachella's line-up is a perfect gauge of whether they suck or not..lol

    What a great stalinist approach...Shall i be SHOT NEXT?????Geeeeeez...

I liked 06 and 07 line-up much more than this year's....I think 06's was better than both 07 and 08 as a whole BUT.... hey my opinion right..

Wait im supposed to be shot already

Yeah, obviously if someone doesn't think the lineup is the best ever based solely on two groups they just totally suck at music.

be civil on this next statement i'm about to make.

i've been to coachella the last 2 years. We all know both had phenomenal lineups and really had a tough festival to outdue. I know that both years i went into coachella knowing a good handful of bands to be excited for, and learning some new ones as well. I dont call myself a music guru, but I am someone who respects diversity. With that said, this lineup is all around weak. I keep poking around on this forum looking for a phenomenal add to change my mind. Aphex twin is tight, but drum n bass aint so much my thing. Kraftwerk and portishead would be my primary reason for going, and they aint worth the 500+ it would cost me total. There are other sweet bands i wont deny. But you cant charge 290 for a festival with a lineup like this.

realistically compared to other lineups you cant say others are weak, cuz most other lineups share the gems coachella brought this year. maybe not the best stuff, but the good stuff worth going seems to be everywhere. And with better bands playing elsewhere for a cheaper price, sorry coach.

Reem away if you must. I love coachella, but am in no way spending whatever obscene amount it would cost for "the experience". till next year.

i look at the line up as a good chance to see some bands that dont play often and they realy kick in my book i am doing coachella solo but also look foward to meeting new pople . each person has there own taste in music and that is ok i am verry opend to it all and dont mind trying new things out.

Although I'm not a Floyd fan, I TOTALLY AGREE with you!!!!

The only reason I am going is because of Kraftwerk, just like in '04.

    Uh...not EXCLUSIVELY.

I kind of expect a lot of DnB in his set though...

Now here comes the part where somebody says "This isn't Drum n Bass, because every 37th beat should come on the UP instead of the DOWN". Screw you kids and your 150 flavors. When I was in college, we had Techno and House. If it had a sample from a soul singer, it was house, and everything else was techno.
