The fact that Eraserhead is coming to Criterion Blu-ray makes me sad that there is not enough David Lynch on blu.
I saw Shame a couple nights ago. It was pretty interesting, had some really good parts along with some really bad parts. Michael fassbender has a big ol dick, that was my main takeaway from the movie
just got back from seeing django unchained. i fucking love that german guy. i'd almost forgotten bastards, but he was good in that too. the whole cast was great. the silly shootout in the big house really took me out of the movie, but enjoyed it otherwise. why did some people instantly die from one shot while others took several and wouldn't die. and they kept shooting excessively at the floor. was surprised to see jonah hill and old tom from lost. also, i counted 96 instances of the word ******. though i went to the bathroom at one point.
definitely enjoyed the movie, one of the few i've liked since jackie brown.
Motherfucker you will watch four movies at once and you will enjoy it.
I always enjoy reading through notable people's Criterion picks, you can check out Guy Maddin's picks here.
I haven't seen a single one of those.

I Vitelloni is the dullest Felini film I've ever seen. Handsome Italian teenagers are the least engaging sub-group outside of people who post on this message board. You should seek out Haxan/Witchcraft Through The Ages (watch the latter, with the Burroughs v/o) immediately though.
I remember watching 'Belly', and there's the part when DMX, Nas & Mark II (Wee-Bey from 'The Wire) watch a scene from Harmony's 'Gummo'...Even they thought 'Gummo' was fucked up, and they just came back from robbing and killing people in their opening montage.
'Spring Breakers' seems it won't disappoint.
I've heard very positive things about Spring Breakers
So is James Franco suppose to be RiffRaff?
Went to an afternoon showing of Jack Reacher today with a friend and we were the only two people watching the movie. During the previews my friend leaves and comes back a few minutes later with a blunt from his car. It was my first time smoking since August so I got super high. Originally didn't want to but I thought how many chances of doing that would happen again so I caved in smoked. Not sure if it was because I was high or not but I actually really liked the movie. I now understand why they delayed the opening of it a week though.

When was the last time a foreign film got nominated for Best Picture? And, in addition to that, Best Director and Best Actress for Emmanuelle Riva? Haneke beast mode.

Congratulations! You are the 2013 recipient of my annual "Why are you talking about the Oscars in here? They have nothing to do with movies!" comment.
I like that Haneke got nominated even if I don't like him so far. I actually have plans to see Amour tonight. Also, I'm glad that Phoenix got nominated for The Master, even if all of its non-acting snubs are confirmation that I don't need to take this year's race seriously.
It was foreign financed, but it was a Los Angeles-based production. Not eligible for France to submit as its official Oscar entry.
Similarly, Letters From Iwo Jima was fully in Japanese, but it was produced by Warner Bros. Also not eligible.
The rule of "each country submits one film for Oscar consideration" needs to be euthanized, in my opinion. There are years where one country produces several highlights, yet the choice of which one is even an option for the Oscar voters to nominate (and thus provide with a significant financial boosting) is up to the governments? Might as well put up a "Corruption welcome here!" sign.
Speaking of foreign films and the Oscars, I am still pissed that Waltz With Bashir didn't win for Best Animated Feature. That film hit me very hard - i really need to see it again. it sat with me for a long time though.
