look like Brandon in "Last Tango" by comparison
I know this was meant to be Brando, but it made me laugh a bit thinking we might have a movie star in our midst and not even realize it.

That being said, I agree with the few movies already given where people actually liked the performance by Nicholas Cage. My three favorites that I've seen are "Adaptation", "Wild at Heart", and "Raising Arizona". I also liked "Face/Off" despite Nicholas Cage, mainly for the scene where they're shooting up the house while the kid is listening to "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" on his headphones.

Now an off-topic question: I was planning on going to see "Volver" on Saturday but just found out the theater that's showing it is taking it out on Friday to make room for some crap film or other. Is it good enough that I should try to catch it tonight or tomorrow, or can I wait until the DVD release? I really wanted to see it at the theater, but I don't think a whole lot of impact will be lost by seeing it on DVD.

you can wait for dvd to see volver. i really liked the movie, but it's not one of those movies you "have" to see in theatres.

it's cause he's a Coppola. Francis made a deal with the devil that all Coppola family members will be guaranteed lifetime Hollywood employment in exchange for Francis never having another hit in his life.

    it's what I heard anyway.

My favorite part in Moonstruck is when Cage gets clocked by Cher. That basically makes the entire movie, for me at least. Raising Arizona is the only movie I like that has Cage in it. He's just deadpan.

My bad. I totally missed that post. I'll get back to you about the Nuart screening.

A good friend of mines birthday is this weekend and I'm unsure if he's planning on going out Friday or Saturday night. He is a fan of "Wild at Heart" though, so maybe he would like to go to the midnight showing as well if his party plans aren't until Saturday.

And for those of you who live in NYC, head to the ImaginAsian to see "The Taste of Tea". It's times like this I miss living there.

After "Red Dragon", I'd rather give my Coachella tickets away to suprefan than sit through another Hannibal Lecter movie.

But at least it doesn't have Anthony Hopkins in it again.

i can't stand nicolas cage. although wild at heart is a great movie, i'd like to think that david lynch had his reasons for not re-casting him in any of his other films, which he usually will do with actors he likes.

on a semi-related note, i'm going to the premier of inland empire in SF tonight, which is also the kickoff of SF indie fest. apparently our tickets also get us into an "after-party" with food & drink. i'm more interested in seeing the movie though...i've never seen a david lynch movie on the big screen before!

what new hannibal film is coming out? i thought they had done a movie for each of the books in the trilogy.

saw "sherrybaby" last weekend. maggie gyllenhaal was superb, as expected, but probably the most depressing movie i've seen.

I didn't know "Young Hannibal" was a novel as well....I just thought that Dino DiLaurentiis commissioned someone to make another movie.
