It's ok to dislike a movie while others like it. I personally thought the movie was awful besides the aesthetics look of the future.

I'm not seeking justification for my opinion or hoping to shut down those that liked it. I really just don't understand why this movie was so critically acclaimed.

I'll put a wild guess because it's Spike Jones and in a conform zone of a hip director.

Days of Future Past delivers and is either the best or 2nd best X-Men film. I know this to be true.

I made my girlfriend watch it last night. She objected because she thought the premise sounded stupid and she knew she was going to hate it. I assured her it was one of the best films I'd seen in years. She hated it. She also has terrible taste in movies.

Guedita and I both have very different viewing tastes and both can agree that movie is horrible and the movie's plot is evolves around "I deserve a relationship because I'm a nice guy" type of douche.

    My notes read like this:

We can't even express our own feelings?

We are just numbers and they are just letters.

    Everybody is talking to themselves.
Would never work. Some people are just too fucking loud - in body & mind

No dining table?! Can you be any more obvious?

Can't even sit with your own thoughts?

"Relationship with your mother" That's all we're defined by?

THIS GOES ON FOR 2 HOURS?!?!?

Watching an annoying conversation of way too many hipsters that think they're intuitive and misunderstood.

I would love to have "somebody" in my computer to clean shit up without judgment.

Who fucking receives and accepts these "letters?"

    The design is pretty awesome.

Reading people and judging them on so little, this is "romantic" f that shit.

"Lesser versions of anything I have felt before" stop feeling so fucking sorry for yourself.

    OS orgasm . . . That's stupid

How is everybody else able to lead a normal life? Oh wait . . . He's just schyzo.

Doesn't want to deal with anything real

I joined a book club? WTF!

Most annoying girlfriend in the world. Can't even touch her, but she still nags.

    I want a giant phone.

Don't apologize to your fucking computer!

"I trust myself." You're fucking one month old!

    Double date! This movie sucks.

Being able to have conversations with passed great minds would be awesome.

How fucking needy is this computer? I would be pissed if I kept getting woken up in the middle of the night.

    641! Hahahaha. What a douche!

Selfish? No shit. Woah is me, my life is so sad. What can you do for me!!?

The OSs left. Really? That's too bad. Where did they go?

    Good riddance!

Her creates a romantic relationship with as much complexity and believable emotion as any movie I've seen the past few years - with positively virtuoso acting; keep in mind, one of the actors has no eyeline in most scenes, and the other actor has no physical presence - while at the same time crafting an even-handed study of technology and its impacts on modern life. It's not perfect, and it's okay if you don't accept that it's great, but all this dismissal and pretending that it couldn't possibly have merit is beneath.....well, it's quintessential gunz, but it's beneath the rest of you.

I caught Godzilla last night and was quite impressed. Sure, the human characters are mostly lemons (mainly Aaron Taylor-Jarhead), but this was an improvement over Monsters, in my view, because that film based its entire story around its lemon-humans; Godzilla at least has enough sense to frequently identify them as a non-factor (or in extreme cases, an active irritant) in the grand scheme of nature. This was probably my favorite summer blockbuster since Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Finally saw Philomena tonight. I thought it was great. Judi Dench was brilliant in it. While I still think Blanchette deserved to win for Blue Jasmine it wasn't as an obvious choice as I thought it was. Would highly recommend it to people who have yet to see it.

I was surprised by how much I didn't hate Philomena, but come on Dench's performance didn't hold a candle to Cate's.

EXACTLY. While most films are either ultra-romanticizing or cute-ifying relationships, or culling them from tough circumstances and selling that as "love", this movie says "hey, this relationship is for real" - and who cares if one of the participants is totally NOT real? It's about the struggle we have to be in love with someone else despite our flaws and expectations AND their flaws and expectations. If you've never had a true love relationship with someone that challenged you, it would certainly seem like claptrap. Or if you're the kind of nitwit who thinks you're never to blame for a relationship's failures. But if you've fought hard for someone you love while fighting against your personal emotional walls and intellectual hangups, you should see some of that mirrored in Her. I loved it, and I wasn't in the "Spike Jonze is a genius so I have to love this" group at all.

Two big, big additions to Netflix Instant: Leviathan and Museum Hours. Two of the better films of the past few years.

I haven't seen Ravenous in years but I really liked it a lot at the time. It's campy and over the top but without lessening any of the tension or taking away from the excitement and anxiety. It's got fun performances from the majority of the cast, especially Robert Carlyle. I personally think Albarn's score, which he co-wrote with Michael Nyman, is the best thing about the movie, though I know a lot of people found it extremely annoying.

The Blu-ray should be waiting for me when I get home, so hopefully I'll be able to rewatch it tonight.

The score was fantastic, and especially fitting during that last 20 minutes. What a completely insane movie.

Oh my God, i LOVE Ravenous! I saw it popped up on Netflix last week and was trying to tell Heather about it. I saw it in the the theater, and it was especially nuts at the time when Guy Pierce, Robert Carlyle, and David Arquette were all legitimate movie stars. It's such a great crazy movie.
